New version 0.2.6 is available. Updating to this will reset some prefs.

Thanks for the updates!

As a user of the DefaultUi i would like to ask for a freefloating window (f.e. callable by Main menu->View->Bookmarks).

Hello tanka!

Can you explain me what the suboption "(Capture playlist) on clearing playing tracks playlist ..." means?

EDIT:

Maybe the reason for my irritation that caused the question above is a bug or inconsistent behaviour. If just capture playlist content is selected for all playlists then after removing the bookmarks playlist the playlist named in general preferences for  tracks (wich playlist doesn't exist anymore) is choosen for loading the bookmark. But the same setting for a specified playlist creates the old/removed playlist again.

EDIT 2:

"If just capture playlist content is selected for all playlists then after removing the bookmarks playlist the playlist named in general preferences for  tracks (wich playlist doesn't exist anymore) is choosen for loading the bookmark"

Even that isn't always the case

q-stankovic,

While a track is playing, clear its playlist or you could replace the entire playlist content with other content like with using the Album List plugin, then bookmark it. The original content is captured if that suboption is checked off.

Sorry, but I guess I'm a complete noob when it comes to using this addon. I cannot make it work (or I just don't know how to make it work). I've put the addon in my components folder and I see the options for it under Preferences, but I cannot make it bookmark my (in this case) Audio Books. I've enabled all the options in the preferences that I can think should make it work, but it doesn't help.
Is it supposed to automatically save my spot if I click on another item? It isn't. If I'm listening to an Audio Book and then I click a song to take a break from the book, I lose my place. Please help!

Any help greatly appreciated.

I guess I'm in the same boat as Tavis above

Edit2:

OK never mind. I figured it out .
For travis - go to Columns UI preferences --> Layout --> right click on one of the splitters and click add panel --> panels --> bookmarks

Works Great!
Thanks again.

I have encountered two problems with this useful plugin.
1) Sometimes when I select "Bookmark" from the context menu, the bookmark does not have a timestamp. So if I click on the bookmark, foobar2000 just
plays from the beginning of the song. It does not happen every time, but often enough (I would say more than 50% of the time).
2) Cannot make a Button to bookmark. I made a Button to bookmark. But when I click on the button, nothing happens.

I am using Windows XP SP3, foobar2000 0.9.6.3 beta 2 (the latest), and CUI 0.3.6.7 (the latest).
Any idea? Thanks in advance.

PlayWithFire,

to get the plugin to work you need the Columns User Interface (as for all components with foo_uie... in their name). With foobar's default user interface it will not function.

In Preferences go to Display / Columns UI. Now choose the tab "Layout". Create a new one and integrate "Bookmarks" therein or in an existing one.

The zip with the component includes a textfile with further hints. Furthermore rightclicking on a playlist item you see a new entry "Bookmark".

It doesn't seem to work very well with the component ELPlaylist (foo_uie_elplaylist).
When a new bookmark is added it doesn't have song position and playlist name. So, if you open the new bookmark it will open the song from the beggining and in a playlist with no name.
With ColumnsUI's "NG Playlist " works fine.

Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks.

It doesn't work with me either.

I hav efoobar2k 0.9.6.5, use columnsui 0.3.6.8 and bookmarks 0.2.6.
1) when i bookmark a song (how do i bookmark a position?) i dont see anything happening. where do i find the bookmarks?
2) when i close foobar during playing a song and restart foobar, the song starts from beginning, after pressing "play".

maybe i dont use it the right way?

EDIT: found it out, read the post above...

Quite invested by now in foobar's default UI... do I have any options to flag certain times in a track to jump to for playback?

foo_uie_bookmarks

Well, if you want to invest a bit more time - time which I do not guarantee will be productive - this will load into default user interface
via dockable panels.

Please search for: All the usual caveats regarding dockable panels usage within DUI.

A quick very limited use of foo_uie_bookmarks configured in 100% default mode shows a bookmark panel able to load, log bookmarks appropriate playlists and persist across a close / open of foobar. No - ZERO - other testing done.
YMMV!!!

Thanks, Terry. It did seem to be dockable, and worked well enough for me to determine that it wasn't quite what I was looking for. I actually want something that can be embedded in the track. Came across something in id3v2 tagging where you can insert chapter info... maybe something like that, but by means of some interface where I can click on the progress bar to insert and voila! Every time I play that track there will be a little bubble or something on the progress bar, hovering over which will give whatever identifying text ('Beginning of Amen section' or whatever). It's really a good story.

Hi,

The unability to bookmark songs is the only problem I found with foobar I thought foo_uie_bookmarks component might be helpful but I cannot make it works  ... Besides I didn't really want to use Columns UI, I personnaly hate it    my configuration of the "default" foobar is wonderful  .

Anyway, I tried putting columns UI latest version and foo bookmark's dll into component folder and I had then a bookmark option but it didn't work ><. I dunno how that thing works I've already had troubles for rating songs (foo mass tag) because of all the codes if it's the same for this component I'd really appreciate a tutorial because I simply cannot make it alone  .

I'd actually love to have a "bookmark playlist" to play all the part of songs I want in one click like for instance :  A State Of Trance XXX : 1:46:05    // A State Of Trance XXX : 1:35:02  and so on... I have approx 30 bookmarks to make so it is very important for me.

Thanks for reading,

I hope you'll be able to help me...

foo_uie_bookmarks

Regarding ratings, why not use the tagging portion that comes included with the  standard playback statistics component - foo_playcount?

For bookmarks, you have a menu item but no way to load the component into a panel in the default user interface without using the foo_dockable panels component.

This is not something you are going to be able to do unless you are willing to do your homework. There is plenty of information / threads here regarding dockable panels. You need to understand the usage of the dockable panels component first. Basically, you are using dockable panels to provide you with a user configurable floating panel in the Default user interface which will accept the loading of Columns UI components.

READ up on it, install dockable panels and have a go at it. If you still have troubles, I may be able to help.

I think I misunderstood this component  ...

I'm looking for something like in the mp3 players (I have an old Creative Zen) to be able to begin a song directly to a precise moment you know a column or something where foobar could save the moments I want to listen to, so for the same song I would have something like that :      A State Of Trance : 00:45:02 ,  00:50:03 etc... Because I can't remember by heart which parts of the radioshows I like there are just too many >< .

foo_uie_bookmarks

From the best I can tell from your explanation, that is what it does.

You are listening, you want to bookmark something Right click for the context menu, select bookmark.

terry

Remember my previous message. This only loads in the Default User interface, via foo_dockable panels.

What have you done to get this to work...Where are you having trouble.

Just found this plug-in and it worked great - it helped to resolve my issue listening to long lectures (45 minutes or longer).

I would like to request one little thing - provide the focus is on the bookmark panel - pressing F2 allow the focused bookmark item's comment to be edited.

tanka - thank you for providing this very useful plugin.

Best.
