Secure Ripper Test (part 2 concise results)

Well, one thing's for sure and that is that i am extremely jealous on you guys for being able to use this "seems to be" absolutely fantastic piece of ripping software

;Waiting patiently for Spoon to add image ripping capabilities to the R12 ripper

CU, Martin.

I am also waiting for this. I assume when he has image capabilities, it will also do a cue sheet? Plus I'm hoping it will be able to write the replaygain values to the cue sheet also.

I'm a little bit confused by the 'image' terminology..

Does this mean that R12 will or will not be able to rip (a whole album) to a single flac file (preferrably with automaticly embeded cue sheets, album art, and replay gain analysis)? This would be huge motivating factor for myself.

Or is 'image' more referring to an .ISO or similar mountable image file, or something else?

Image ripping has slipped to next release (ie r12.5 or r13).

@sebastian

You have enabled isrc from the meta menu? it is not on by default.

Tag changing will be by a DSP effect later (ie lowercase, etc).

@Changfest

Will do year stripping for filename, next beta.

Yep. In fact, I enabled everything.  I also tried selecting Retrieve --> ISRC or something like that (sorry, don't have access to the software right now) but it didn't help. UPC is retrieved, though. Of course, I tested with a CD that has tracks with ISRC.

OK  - and thank you very much for letting us now when we can expect it

Btw, when you implement it, then please make it not in the same way as EAC i.e. that only the cuesheet is made automatically, but the extraction log file is only made when selecting "OK" in a "ripping finished" kinda' dialog, as this will refreain us from being able to automatically embed the log file but only the cuesheet from the used command line, without resorting to AutoIT scripting techniques...

Now, when the image ripping feature has been added, then we only need a kind sould that can make a REACT kinda' AutoIT script for this new ripper also, just like tycho allready has done for EAC, so as to be able to get both a lossless image with embedded cuesheet and logfile + lossy track files, and all this done automatically  with just a single click of a button. Also before running the two encoders, then WaveGain should be run also, so as to add "REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN x.xx dB" and "REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK x.xxxx" comments to the embedded cuesheet and also use the scalefactor that WaveGain returns to scale the lossy track files so that they will be Album Gain'ed.

Ahh, one can always dream

CU, Martin.

Another suggestion: make the columns movable (if not via drag-and-drop, the way it was implemented in Mp3tag).

They are moveable, but drag 'n drop would be nice.

How?

As for the ISRC problem, it works with my LG E10L unit (USB) but not with my Plextor PX-755A. Any idea why? EAC and Plextool Professional can retrieve ISRC with the Plextor, too (D8 is set as read command in EAC).

How do you configure external encoders? If I can do that, then I can switch from EAC.

And I was getting all amped up for the January release because I thought image ripping was going to be available.

Oh well, still love the program, it would just be great to have it do images, because its so much easier to use than EAC (mainly for my girlfriend who doesn't have as much patience and computer audio know-how as I do).

question: besides configuring your drives capabilities (caching and all that jazz) are there any other settings that you guys have been changing from the default that makes the program more optimal? I didn't notice anything, but I'm used to EAC where you have to change almost every setting from the defaults to get what you want.

Install CLI Encoder to use any external encoder.

The read command is not used to ISRC, rather the read Subcode x042. Now if Read UPC works it is the same call with 1 byte (asking for isrc not upc) changed, odd...

Installed the CLI encoder (dMC-Generic-CLI.exe), ran it and entered the encoder path, name, extention, etc. and a message said encoder was added. But it doesn't appear either in the ripper or the converter (I'm trying to add itunesencode btw).

I looked around the dbpoweramp site but couldn't find info to help with this one. Any help is appreciated, and merry christmas to everyone!

Do any CDs use the pre-emphasis? maybe some early ones?

------

singaiya:  Older codecs from Codec Central do not work with R12, the only ones supported are the ones listed in the R12 beta thread (cli encoder is one).

"Do any CDs use the pre-emphasis? maybe some early ones?" - spoon

EAC flags pre-emphasis on all three of my CDs from Swedish classical label BIS:

BIS-CD-119  Scriabin: Piano Music - Achatz/Pontinen    recorded 1987    issued 1996
BIS-CD-475    Scriabin: Piano Concerto & Sym. No. 3      recorded 1990    issued 1990
BIS-CD-535    Scriabin: Symphony No. 2, etc.                          recorded 1991    issued 1992

The above are generally available and remain in their catalog.
