New downloaded audio file play automatically

Good day guys,

OS: Windows 11 Home, Version 22H2
Foobar 2000, Version 2.0 (x64)

I had a problem as describe as below:
Once the new download finished music, it will trigger off the Foobar to play it automatically, it's quite annoying, so do you guys have any suggestion to deactivate it? Many thanks!

Kel

What are you downloading with? Web browser? This sounds like you have configured the program you use for downloading to always open that file type with foobar2000.

Yes, I got those music directly from web browser, so what's your suggestion? Thanks!

By default, your web browser is configured to open any files it downloads in the app Windows has associated with that file type.  You can either alter the browser settings so that files are not opened automatically (which will affect all types of files you download), or you can disassociate .mp3 (or whatever) from being played when double-clicked (which is inconvenient).

I am not sure you can set the browser to open some file types but not others, but that might depend which browser it is.  I prefer to have the browser not open any downloads automatically, because that is also safer.
It's your privilege to disagree, but that doesn't make you right and me wrong.

Assuming you use Google Chrome, you can right click the downloaded file in the Downloads-popup list and untick the "Always open files of this type". Or you can go to settings, Downloads and click "Clear" next to "Open certain file types automatically after downloading" to remove the configuration from all file formats at once.

If you use Firefox, settings page has Applications near the bottom. You can fully customize all file formats and what to do with them. You'll probably want to change all your audio file formats to "Save file".

Yup, thanks Football & Case for the help, no more problem now.
Especially Case, "If you use Firefox, settings page has Applications near the bottom. You can fully customize all file formats and what to do with them. You'll probably want to change all your audio file formats to "Save file". "

Many thanks!
