DAE quality report on Plextor PX-708A

As stated here, I've tested my drives with the DAE quality test from the EAC homepage.

Further explanations about the test procedure can be found here, so here are the facts about the PX-708A:

Drive: Plextor PX-708A

[!--sizeo:3--][span style=\"font-size:12pt;line-height:100%\"][!--/sizeo--]Conclusion[/size]
I tested two different PX-708A drives. One was not able to rip the test CD with speeds lower than 24x (I've tried it for 5 hours - it just got stuck). The other thing which was very interesting: I've done the test with every speed setting twice. On the drive mentioned above, the results for any specific speed quite differed. As all of the results of this drive were a little bit "fishy", I dropped them altogether. So all the results posted above are taken from one drive only.

The DAE results of the PX-708A are better than these of the PX-755A (see the correspondig thread). Very astonishing is the fact, that the best results are produced with the highest speed ("actual" in EAC). The lower the speed gets, the more problems the painted triangle (simulated dirt, I suppose) is causing.
On the other hand, the artifical scratches are handled all the same, there are no big differences between the speed settings.
On the slower speeds (4x and 8x) the extraction took a very long time.

So the PX-708A is a good drive for DAE, but still far away from perfect.
