replacing my creative zen touch

Hi,

I have a creative zen touch 20gb MP3 player in my posession, and I'd like to replace it by a new player.
Currently, I can sell my creative for about 150€ so this money can be used to fund the new player.

Inspected ipod nano, but it is redicolous that I change my 20gb of storage into 2gb of storage, a massive loss...

The criteria of the new player should be: slim, colour, and ofcourse as many as possible storage.

Which players do you guys recommend me when I have a budget of 200€?

Also, what do you guys think about the creative -> nano thing, is it worth it?

It sounds like it.

OTOH, I don't know about your currency or the prices in your country, but I just checked the Apple Store in the UK, where I am, and the cheapest Nano it has on sale has a capacity of 2GB and is currently selling at £99 (inclusive of tax). Amazon UK, by contrast, has a 2GB Creative Zen at £79. So, as far as I can tell, Zen's stuff is cheaper than Apple's but not drastically so.

I'd check prices at a number of outlets and look at a few different makers' lines before making a decision.

I bought an iAudio X5V (no radio) after my Zen Micro 5GB died for about 220€. Couldn't be happier. Sounds good, color display, Rockbox (limited) support, plays video... only drawback is battery life (around 8 hours supposedly) but you can get the X5L model (more expensive, though).

Good luck.

I still have my Zen Touch 20 Gb, but a little while ago, I suffered from impulse spending and bought a Zen Vision M (30 Gb). Has a similar menu system to the Touch, but with more storage, colour screen, video playback, FM Radio, voice/note recording, A/V out and is slightly smaller than the Touch. I'm very happy with it, but aren't sure about the price in your area. Here in Oz it is similar to the 30 Gb iPod in price.

I also currently have a Zen Touch. I've been thinking about upgrading but asked myself, why? Why do I need to upgrade? What do the new players have over my Zen Touch?

The only things I could come up with is an extra 10 gigs and a colour display that has album art...All for an extra 200-300 dollars! It's not worth it right now.

I totally agree with you, it's also my reason for asking help because, yes, ipod nano is a lot smaller, and thinner, but you need to pay at least 50€ extra for the 2GB nano, which is 10x (!) less diskspace then your actual player.

Also, ipod 30gb costs $249.00, so why pay $249.00 for a ipod nano 8gb

I'm interested in what microsoft's zune will bring us

For me it was the ability to play videos (with TV out as well). I travel a lot, and it is nice to be able to keep a couple of favourites on there for watching when I am stuck in an airport, or I can plug it into a TV in a hotel room. I agree that if you can't get a benefit from the video/TV out support, the benefits over a Touch are minimal.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the video playback ability! I still couldn't justify paying that much for an "upgrade" though.

I'd say keep the zen touch and just spend your money on a bigger drive for it. Thats what I'm planning on doing if I can ever get into the thing. The bad thing about the zen touch is those buttons you know when you press fast forward and it pauses. My eye started twitching just thinking about it. I dont see the point in portable video players there too big. my friend has one of the archos players or the suitcase for short.
I love π
