Apple Lossless Audio Codec

Does any know if the Apple Lossless Audio Codec is supposed to be gapless?

I ripped the Beatles - Abbey Road as wav files in EAC (secure mode) on my Plextor P40T and then converted to ALAC using Itunes.  I am getting half-second gaps on my Ipod between songs that I always thought were gapless.

For example:
Mean Mr. Mustard to Polythene Pam to She Came in Through the Bathroom Window

Golden Slumbers to Carry That Weight to The End

Are the gaps caused by the tagging or by something else such as the Ipod?

Thanks!

iPod doesn't support gapless playback, even for gapless format.
Maybe a future firmware will correct this (a similar one is planned for iRiver Jukebox).
Wavpack Hybrid: one encoder for all scenarios
WavPack -c4.5hx6 (44100Hz & 48000Hz) ≈ 390 kbps + correction file
WavPack -c4hx6 (96000Hz) ≈ 768 kbps + correction file
WavPack -h (SACD & DSD) ≈ 2400 kbps at 2.8224 MHz

Thanks!  Hopefully Apple will address this in their next update.  I will check when I get home to see if it plays back gapless in Itunes on my PC.

In Itunes go to Edit, Preferences, Crossfade Playback, 0 and it will play gapless.
