How to best serve up my FLAC collection over local network to receiver

I have a fairly good size collection of FLAC.  And I'd like to have it available to my Onkyo receiver over my local network.  What are my options for doing so?  So far I've tried Foobar2000 with the DNLA component but you need to be logged in on the computer to have the DNLA available.  Is there a way to serve up these files to my reciever without having to be logged into a user account?  As I would like to use a WHS 2011 box where my FLAC files are stored to handle everything, having it headless in a closet and not logged into the Admin account just to have access to my FLAC collection.  TIA

SONOS, Squeezebox, or similar network music player (connected to your receiver just like you'd connect a CD player) that will use music stored on NAS or headless server.  You might look at ASSET UPnP (by the maker of dbpoweramp) and run this on a tiny "NAS" type unit.  You could run LMS (the server software for Squeezeboxes) on your WHS 2011 box. You could also point any SONOS units to the files on that box for playback purposes. I *think* you could run ASSET UPnP also on that WHS box.  Lots of choices.

I use Squeezeboxes to play music from my headless server that runs 24/7 (stored in a back closet out of the way). I can serve music (about 90,000 tracks, mostly FLAC) to different locations in the home (different players) and play the exact same thing to all players (perfectly synced) or play different things to different players. Some players are standalone (bedside radio) and some are connected to my main stereo system. Some players are wired via ethernet connection others are connected via WIFI. I control all this from either my laptop, my iphone, or my ipad.

You need to have your DLNA server start as a service when Windows boots.  Look into NSSM: https://nssm.cc/

Lots of server options: http://bit.ly/1DB2euw

raspberry pi running mediatomb or some other dlna service. My Onkyo receiver plays from it without issue.

I tried this with Foobar2000 installed with the DNLA component.  I used Task Scheduler to have it run at boot.  It killed all(2) instances of DNLA when logged in as Admin and no DNLA at boot.  Also killed Foobar2000 so that it would not open when logged in.

Sonos would probably be great but I'm looking for something not so expensive.  Would be great to just serve the FLAC up from the server which is always on anyway.  But the Pi might be an option I guess but it just another device and I'm thinking there has to be a way to do it with my WHS2011 server that is always on.

After some research I've decided to give Asset a try.  So far it is working and sounding great.  And it has a configurable Add-in for WHS2011: https://www.dbpoweramp.com/asset-whs-manual.html

So now my WHS2011 box that is always on serves up my FLAC collection via DNLA without having to be logged on as a user like Foobar2000 w/DNLA component required of me.

No reason to buy another device as my WHS2011 server is always on.

Serviio would have been a choice too.  But Asset UPnP has more focus on music which was my main need for it, and they have an Add-In for the WHS Dashboard to manage it from a client PC.
