Rush's "Caravan" Single Is Squished

I never looked at the waveforms of Rush's "Snakes and Arrows" because I never heard the audible clipping present on "Vapor Trails" and I wanted to give new (to Rush) producer Nick Rasculinecz and engineer Rick Chycki the benefit of the doubt.  However, the latest Rush single, "Caravan" is loud as hell and upon looking at the waveform I'm appalled at the brickwall limiting that's apparently been applied.

My blog post with an illustrative picture is here: http://wp.me/p2Aj6-sL.  Very disappointed.

Loudness wars are just one of the things that make me lose faith in the industry and stick with independent artists.....
The loudness war is like having a classic book read to you by Billy Mays.....

Whatever the case, the sound quality is infinitely better than that of Vapor Trails (how could you not hear the latter's clipping, both digital and analogue, as well as awful mixing? ). IMO the songs are quite a bit better than either of the previous albums, too--so I'm encouraged for the album.
