COWON iAudio 7 quit working

I was loading music onto my player.  It didn't seem to be reading remaining MB correctly.  Went into Setup/General and changed USB type from UMS to MTP.  Player froze back at music play screen showing there's no music.  Among other things pressed reset button to no effect.  Can't get back to menu to reset or reload firmware (it's at 1.18 now) as suggested in one answer I found (yes, I've scoured the web looking for an answer.

Oddly, to me at least, when plugged into a PC it shows only 2 folders:  System and Data.  However, when plugged into a Mac it shows all folders with all the music still there.

Any ideas on how to get this unit running again?

Thank you.

Perhaps make a backup and then delete the file SYSTEM\PARAM.CFG - it probably contains the UMS/MTP settings, among others.
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

I have seen something similar and it was because the hidden attribute had been set on the directories in Windows. Fixed by setting the file manager to show hidden files and then unsetting the hidden attribute.

I can't answer your question, but perhaps someone at the iAudiophile forums might be able to help you.
