Unhandled exception error mencoder convert opendivx video - How to sol

hi guys,
i'm currently using mencoder from mplayer to do some conversion in win xp
mencoder -ovc lavc "C:\bin\workbinUpload\burung murai versi cucu datok.avi" -oac mp3lame -o "C:\bin\workbinUpload\burung murai versi cucu datok.flv"

and at the end:

1 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 83.2s 2504f (99%) 112.65fps Trem: 0min 6mb A-V:0.008 [571:79]]
1 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 83.4s 2510f (102%) 112.74fps Trem: 0min 6mb A-V:0.006 [571:79]
1 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 83.6s 2516f (102%) 112.84fps Trem: 0min 6mb A-V:0.004 [571:79]
1 duplicate frame(s)!
[mpeg4 @ 0x1ac53a0]concealing 40 DC, 40 AC, 40 MV errors A-V:0.003 [571:79]

and there will be a popup saying that there was an unhandled exception and that mencoder has crash.
from Gspot, the video has DivX 4 (OpenDivX) and audio 0x0055 MPEG-2 Layer 3 property.

i've been googling around for quite a while now but to no avail
can anybody help?

thanks!!

I don't use the command line interface to Mencoder, so I don't really know if you're doing something wrong or if there's something wrong with your source-video file.  I suspect it's something about your  source video, and Mencoder simply isn't going to transcode it.    Have you had success with other DivX/MP3 files?  If other DivX files are working, there's something "wrong" with this particualar DivX file.

You might try SUPER.  It uses Mencoder, FFmpeg, and a couple of other CODEC modules.  (It appears to use FFmpeg for SWF/FLV.)

If SUPER doesn't work, you might need to search the Net to try and find something that does work.

You might also try converting to AVI/DV (13GB per hour), and then converting the DV to FLV.  But, I suspect that will fail also since 99 percent of transcoding porblems are "from" problems, rather than "to" problems.  (DV is the most foolproof, trouble-free format.  The most-compressed formats are the most trouble-prone.)

Your original file may be corrupted.  (I don't know if "duplicate frame" means there's a problem.)  I've had video files that play OK, but are "difficult" to edit or transcode (even with my "commercial" video editor).  I never know what's "wrong" with the file, or what the editor/CODEC doesn't "like" about it...  Some files work and some don't, even though they appear to be the same format.    And, I'm assuming the corruption is in the internal video-data-structure...  Something went wrong during encoding...  Not the kind of file corruption you might get with a defective hard drive.

hi Dvddoug,
that's the conclusion that i came up with too, as i was able to convert other divx videos from 4.1 to div 6.1 i think based on what GSpot told me. i got the video off the http://www.archive.org/details/movies website, and i did the conversion using older 4.1 snes video games video and the later 6.1 ps2 type video games video.

the thing that bugs me is why is the conversion going over 100% and if only i can find some other open divx type videos to convert with. i've googled around but i have yet to find a site which have sample videos in this format.

any ideas where i can get some?
thanks.
