AAC in Windows Media Player 11

I've got a problem with playing AAC files (encoded in iTunes) in Windows Media Player 11 (full). I can't rewind/fast forward music. Any ideas how to do that?

Since Windows Media Player 11 itself is unable to decode AAC, you must have installed some third-party Direct Show Decoder which seems to be either incomplete or a bit buggy if it doesn't properly support seeking. Replace it with ffdshow, it includes a fully functional AAC decoder for all Direct-Show-based players.

along with a DirectShow decoder(such as ffdshow, CoreAAC, etc...) you need an mp4 source filter so that the decoder can work properly. i personally use gabest's mp4 splitter which works like a charm. here's a link to it.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=170665

after downloading it, put it in a directory such as system32 and then go to Start > Run > and type in without the quotes: "regsvr32 MP4Splitter.ax"

These tips didn't help. Any other ideas?

Unless Quicktime is somehow magically allowing WMP to play m4a files, my install of WMP11 is able to play them natively. I have installed no other codecs except the official DivX 6.x setup. WMP11 even adds them to my WMP library automatically using the "monitor folders" option. I was surprised at this, since I hadn't read about it anywhere. I didn't try to fast forward or rewind during playback, but playlists and normal playing appeared to work fine.

Open one of them in graphedit.  It'll tell you what codec is being used.

Hv not tried with itunes AAC. Tried with Nero MP4 and plays very nicely (but not as good as fb2k)...since it is MP4..it will show up as video files in wmp 11
