Emulating enhancer [dsp for winamp] in foobar

So far i've been using foo_dsp_Foobar2WinampPlugin plugin to connect to enhancer 0.17 . Is there a way to do what enhnacer does with a plugin or a combination of dsp plugins in Foobar.

thanks

I think it does something similar to foo_dsp_delta, though not as well.

Well, it does a little bit more than foo_dsp_delta, besides the noise sharpening it can add a little delay, dynamic compression and some equalizing. I don't know exactly how it works, but carefully tweaked it can improve the "perceived" sound quality a lot.

However, the plugin is very old. I remember I was using it in Winamp in 2002 or 2003, and there has been no new version since then although there are some glitches in window handling and sound processing.

As most of the people loved it for its noise sharpening capabilities, I recommend trying foo_dsp_delta. Most of the other stuff Enhancer does can be done with proper equalizer setup.
Nothing is impossible if you don't need to do it yourself.

If you think "compression" makes you audio "sound better" you can try VLevel with conservative settings.

Misunderstanding.
I don't think compression makes my music sound better, just louder. But back in '02 (or '03) I was still on the CBR 128 MP3 track - shame on me, I even used mp3PRO  , and the Enhancer plugin did quite a good job on "improving" what sound the crappy files made come out of my crappy speakers.
Things have changed - better files, better speakers. I don't use Enhancer anymore, but to a certain amount I know its features, and I wanted to give a short list of them for those who don't know the plugin.
Maybe geo can get better hints on Enhancer alternatives if people know what features he might be looking for.

I also used "enhancer" some times with my crappy old speakers - most of it could be emulated (but with much higher quality!) by a combination of foo_dynamics and foo_dsp_delta.
IMHO foo_dynamics with its slow/fast compressor is one of the best sounding single band compressors around, because it does not much harm to the music. I use it for classical music to be played in the car or on the computer.

im using enhancer for a long time, sound is much better, richer...dont know how to say, than without it. maybe i could without it but with my crappy sound card CMI8738 audio chip and Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 speakers...not very good combination. now when i have lot of expirience in listening with enhancer...when i sometimes disable it the sound is like listening an AM radio station, gloomy...the whole problem are high tones. enhancer clears them much better than usual equalizer in winamp or xmplay.....

Im asking myself now is it good to listen the sound that is MAYBE corrected, and get used the ears to that sound, what if the sound without any EQ-s turned on on computer is the real sound (because the EQ-s will not do the same effect on every sound cards and speakers) that my ears should receive and get used to that? OR maybe i should turn the EQ on and tune the sound as i THINK is ok or let the enhancer do the job so I cant tink that the sound is now good and like it used to be?
Open Source is the only source!

I believe you can use most dsps in foobar by applying them to Unitpulse2K.wav and loading it in the convolver.

you'll be able to use ENHANCER when Bridge Plugin for Winamp DSP Plugin (foo_dsp_Foobar2WinampPlugin) is done.

Can anyone answer why this plugin is unavailable until the designer gets around to finish the "new bridge"? Why should we not be able to download the latest working version while we wait. And wait. And wait! Hopefully samuelcdf is a member here and can reply.

BTW. Does anyone have or know where the latest working version can be gotten. Thnx.

I would guess this is the case because the current version is completely incompatible with all current release and beta versions of foobar2000, and the older releases are deprecated and no longer supported.

If you want to find and use old and unsupported software, the foobar2000 forums aren't the place for support and you are own your own.

That I am aware of. But my work must go on regardless. I am using the 0.83 version of foobar2k and have been waiting for quite a while. That still doesn't justify removing the download while we wait. Noting its obsolescence may be a wiser approach and identifying what versions the current plugin works in would be better. When the new plugin comes out I will gladly use a newer version.

If anyone has the foo_dsp_Foobar2WinampPlugin.dll and would be willing to send it to me, PM me and I will send you my email address.

Thank you

So is there no one that has the elusive foo_dsp_Foobar2WinampPlugin.dll. I've read much praise about it but it is not available for download. And yes I know that it is not compatable with the current release of foobar2000. I have the 0.83 version which it is compatible with. I also have a project that is waiting. Please send me a PM and I will reply with an address to send it to.

Many thanks
