SONY NW-E407 - few questions/doubts...

Hello.

I've been looking for MP3 player for me and after many hours of searching and features comparing I've decided to go for NW-E407 (at first I thought about 507, but I don't listen to radio at all, so why spend extra money on that... ? ). Anyway, I'm one of those guys who must know everything about a gadget before buying it, so I post here questions that I couldn't find clear answers to.

1) Data Transfer Speed - I've read many reviews and descriptions of that model and I could not determine for sure, what is the actual data transfer speed, between unit and pc. I've even sent a question to sony's helpdesk. They wrote me, that it's 480 Mbps, which is essentialy USB2.0. But in many places (including this forum) people write that's USB1.1... so who's right? Sony or users... ?

2) File (non audio) Transfer Method - from what I've read, the only way to transfer audio files to the player is by using SonicStage. But will I be able to use NW-E407 to store other files (archives, video etc.)? I know it's not possible to "open" them on the player, but can I store them and move from one place to another, by transfering via usb? I'd like to use it as some kind of pendrive...

3) File (audio) Transfer Method - as above, SonicStage is a must. Really? I've found something about 'mp3 menager' or sth like that, as an alternative way to copy music on the player. However I don't understand very well the idea of it. Anyway, is there a way to "convert" the device, to make possible transfering files via usb without any additional software and still be able to listen to the music transfered that way?

4) Tracks leading/ending silence - many albums are recorded as "one" track - without gaps between each song. Can I play them that way on NW-E407?

5) USB connector type - I couldn't find a photo to check that and I didn't have oportunity to check it "live". Can I use generic USB cable with NW-E407 or is it only compatible with included cable? BTW. how long is the included cable?

6) NW-E407 vs. NW-E507 - as mentioned above, I don't listen to radio so I won't buy NW-E507... unless there're some more differences between these two models, beside FM tuner?

I guess that's about it for now... Thank you in advance for answers.

Greetings,
Maciej
