How can AGP be used on a PCI express motherboard?

I'm trying to plan enough money to build a new computer and the motherboard I want has PCI express slots, so therefore I can't use my ATI AGP card. This makes building the system I want to expensive because there's no way I can afford everything and a new video card. Is there anyway I can use my AGP video card on one of the new motherboards with PCI express slots? Like maybe some kind of an adapter?

No, that is not possible.
If current AGP card is an entry level card, you could use a motherboard with integrated graphic chip instead.

It's very much possible!

There are motherboards out there with both AGP and PCI-Ex16.

VIA also have a Chipset that will have this feature, the PT890. But there aren't, as far as I know, any MB:s using it yet.

That still doesn't make possible to use an AGP card into a PCI-E ONLY motherboard. (that is how I understood the initial question)

Well. He said all the motherboards he wanted had PCI-E. Can't see why they'd have to be PCI-E only. Sure, the AGP-wannabe on this card isn't really all it should be. I still see it as a good compromise for darins little dilemma. It's a lot better than doing an upgrade to a AGP-only MB, and then be unable to upgrade graphics cards later on.

The best thing to do is wait if you want cost-effective PCI-E. PCI-E boards aren't cheap, PCI-E video isn't cheap...even GF 6200 cards are outrageous.

Yeah, to much cost is building up looking at it now. I think I will just settle for a motherboard with the Nforce 3 Ultra chipset. If I waited for the Nforce 4 motherboard prices to drop, how long would that probably take?

Maybe I will go with a Via K8T800 Pro chipset after all and that will solve my problem altogether. But when compareing the Via K8T800 Pro chipset to Nforce 3 Ultra or even Nforce 4, which gives better performance? Especially for HTT?
