Lyrics to Mp3 utility

Hi

I'have found a very good plugin for winamp (evillyrics http://www.evillabs.sk/evillyrics/ ) that find and download automatically lyrics for mp3 played, via ID3 TAG (or APE tag)

it save lyrics in .txt format

I say that it's possible incapsulate lyrics directly into mp3 audio file

well, there are some utilities for this job?

I found utilities for remove lyrics from mp3 (mp3 tag remover v1.10)

there are some "controindications" for merge lyrics directly into Mp3 file?

all software and hardware player are compatiblke with mp3 lyrics-ed?

thnx

The .mp3 format shouldnt allow to add lyrics to a file. But you can create a MKA file from your MP3 and add the lyrics to it, either as SRT ( subtitles ) or simply as a .txt file ....

Hi, the ID3v2 spec (embedded in every mp3 file) includes the ability to embed lyrics  seeid3.org for all that is possible. You can also embed kareoke lyrics to somehow link words to the music as it plays but I have not seen a tool to help you do that... ID3v2 is very powerful.
Good on ya

M$oft WMP9 supports synced lyrics quite well.

thanx for info, yes is lyrics3 v2 tag! (I think )

I have found a free winamp plugin that write this tag in mp3 files, it's lyrics3 (lyrics3 editor)  http://www.hiker.org.il/lyrics.htm

unfortunately write only one by one, manually... have'nt option for MASS writing, i.e. (thnx to hwupgrade.it forum  )  importing winamp playlist etc.

and this tag is not readed by all software lyrics, and I don't know if hardware players (i.e. caraudio) support lyrics in mp3 lyrics v2 tag (I think not!  )

...but I have write this 3D in this forum of evilyrics    LOLL

ha, I just use a seperate file to store the lyric information.
but it is better if the lyric could be saved to the mp3 file.

yes i've tested now!

evillyrics support more audio players and audio formats, and search engine is based on TAG ID3 V1/V2 or APE.
evillyrics save lyrics in .txt files, therefore support many audio format (included mpc), but the audio file must contains ID3 or APE tags that coincide with lyrics saved by evillyrics http://www.evillabs.sk/evillyrics/

another winamp plugin that works, is lyrics3 http://www.hiker.org.il/lyrics.htm , this plugin (lyrics3 edit) write and save lyrics INTERNALLY on the .mpc audio file (lyrics3 v2.00 tag http://www.id3.org/lyrics3200.html ), I don't know if officially mpc support lyrics3 v2.0 TAG, but....
I'have tested with lyrics3 winamp plugin and... works!

the lyrics3 v2.0 write text lyrics at the end of audio file, I think that this don't create incompatibility with some software or hardware players.. but I'm not sure

with winamp works very well

Be aware that matroska will become the 'official' MPC container for extended use in the near future .....

hmm...
This still does not prohibit the use of APE tags.
Matroska tags will take some time to be accepted by developers and i think we should have some more talk on the subject cause personally i do not like a couple of things.

To store lyrics in matroska, you'd likely not use tags, but either a subtitle stream ( also for Karaoke ) or simply a text file attachement ....

IMVHO this will piss off a lot of developers and users.
It's like the ogg people telling you in order to include album art inside a file you have to mux the jpeg into the ogg stream.

Always keep in mind that tags need to be easy to use & implement, also writing at will multiple times and fast. They should also reside into to a fixed or easily searchable position in the file so the tagging app can locate and edit them fast, you can not expect a user with 1000's of files to wait for ever just to bath tag ..lets say 300-500 of them.

The Tags in Matroska can be stored pretty much anywhere, but they are definately not stored in a stream, and I don't know of any app that doesn't write them at the end of the file where they are easily writable without changing the whole file.

As far as lyrics go, if they are synched, they SHOULD go in a stream.  That is where synched data goes.  Makes it nice for streaming/broadcasting.  Unsynched lyrics can't go in a stream because there is not timing data.

As far as attachments go, you can attach anything to a Matroska file, and even tag the attachment with all of the same Tags.  (For instance, you could attach a media player to the file.)  Attachements are typically stored at the end of the file with the Tags for easy adding and removing.

For seeking to the Tags, there is a small seek index at the beginning of the file that tells where all of the major items are, including Tags.  So, you read very little of the file before knowing where the Tags are.  Once you know, you can move right to them, so it is quite fast.  If the the seek data in the file is damaged, finding the Tags requires parsing the entire file (maybe 10-20 seconds for a 600MB file).  If the file is damaged in this way, you should remux it.
