out of curiousity, why wouldn't lame 3.95.1 work with the alt-presets right off the bat? After all, the developers aren't stupid, you think that they'd have anticipated it...

Presets are made by tuning existing versions of lame.  You can't tune versions until after they exist, although obviously if previous versions are similar enough old tuneing might still work.

It works with the presets for me... I'm using RazorLAME as a frontend but surely that only passes the command lline to the .exe anyway? "--alt-preset standard" works fine, I'm using the binary downloaded from Rarewares.
