Feature request: Port over keyboard shortcut settings

Hello,

I’ve been watching the development of Mac Foobar with great interest. I’ve been using it as my main player on Windows for over a decade because of the configurability, functionality and accessibility of the software (I’m blind and use a screen reader and rely exclusively on the keyboard). I switched primarily to using a Mac, but Foobar was one of the apps I didn’t find an exact replacement for substituting it with a few apps based on what it was I wanted to play. So, watching the Mac version of Foobar start to get more and more features from the windows version while looking very similar made me very excited. The app is now in a state where I could switch to it as my main audio player, except for the keyboard shortcut preferences which are still missing.

While Mac OS has a feature to assign keyboard shortcuts to menu items, it has a few important limitations:

- It doesn’t work with the hidden menu items accessed with a Shift+Click or context menus. This means that for example I can’t have shortcuts for volume adjustments or seeking in the file, which are both hidden items in the Playback menu. The volume one is a particular dealbreaker because I often want to change the volume of playing media relative to my screen reader.
- It only allows for shortcuts that use a modifier. So, I can’t assign the spacebar on its own to be play/pause for instance, something which is possible in the Windows version or a default shortcut in other Mac players.
- It doesn’t support global keyboard shortcuts. This one would be a nice to have but I don’t personally consider it as high priority as having more configurability over local shortcuts. I know that on Mac systemwide hotkey monitoring requires an additional user permission so I can imagine this would take longer to implement.

I would be grateful if this is something which could be looked into. For what it’s worth, I know a number of other blind Mac users who feel similarly - IE they haven’t found a good equivalent, but can’t use the app because it’s impossible to have shortcuts to adjust volume or control playback more precisely.

I second this, i actually just registered to say exactly the same thing.

even if you place CTRL + SPACE ( using the system settings for keyboard shortcuts ) to the "play" it doesn't switch between "play/pause" as it would on a "standard" music player.

this is really a downside.

the only thing that's more important than this is the spectrogram graphics! ( joking : D but i love it too! )
