MP3 with CoolEdit Pro 2.1 ?

Hi !

I'm trying to open a mp3 file under CooleEdit Pro 2.1 without any success.

I've checked the CEP directory and I saw that I've no audio filter for MP3. On this board, someone give a link for cool_mp3.flt but it does not work on my PC.

Where can I found a good plugin to open and write MP3 files ??
Can someone help me ??

In this way, if you know other audio plugins (MPC for example), give me the link to find them.

Thx in advance.

I downloaded for two month CEP 2.1, and no mp3 codec was bundled  Removed by Adobe ? Did someone recently downloaded 2.1 on Syntrillium website ? Is there any mp3(pro) codec in the package ?

They've probably removed it because someone cracked it

because they don't want to pay Fraunhoffer royalty fees anymore.

I DL'd the 2.1 demo from Syntrillium site almost two weeks ago -- have something like 10 days left on it -- and mine had the mp3/mp3pro options and they worked (although only 60 second encodes).

Nobody needs to pay Fraunhoffer royalty fees for decoding mp3.

Oh, yes! They do!

Every commercial program that decodes MP3 must pay royalties to Thomson and Fraunhofer.

Only freeware programs are exempt of paying for the license.

I upgraded from CEP 2.0 to 2.1 about 2 months ago and everything is working fine.

Later.

Lucky you... there ain't no such product anymore, and good luck getting any support or bugfixes from Adobe (they'd just say "upgrade to Audition").  This really sucks, and is a bit depressing.

Well, they are offering Audition as a free upgrade to CEP 2.0 users, so there's no reason to complain about lack of support or something.

Also, they're offering Audition at a discount price for owners of CoolEdit Pro 1.X and ColEdit 2000

Oh Ok... I missed that somehow.  That does make the situation a bit brighter, at least they're providing some continuity for current users.

Thanks for report. I must reinstall my previous 2.0 again, and backup filter before reinstalling 2.1...
