Scrobbling offline at work - solution needed !

 Hello

Many moons ago our IT dept tightened up on things, and unfortunately this included scrobbling from FB2K to LastFM.

I used to be able to do upload the scrobbling cache file from LastFM at home, but I think LastFM removed this function (and my scrobbler can't handshake online at work anyway so doesn't work).

Is there any alternative workaround I could try eg with another FB2K scrobbler plugin etc ?

I guess it would need to work in a similar manner (but not require a handshake).

Does anyone know if there is still a way to add scrobbles to LastFM retrospectively ?

Thanks

Thanks - will check.

Would this likely allow me to do what I want eg. scrobble off line at work and somehow upload these scrobbles to LastFM at home ?

It should automatically submit the cache next time you use it with internet.

https://github.com/gix/foo_scrobble/tree/master#overview

But my work IT won't allow connection to Last FM at all.

That's why previously I would paste in the LastFM cache file at home, and all those offline tracks would then appear in my LastFM account.

How would I replicate this with the component you recommend ?

Paste? I have no idea what you're talking about.  :))

Since work IT won't allow internet, I thought you were running a portable fb2k on a USB stick or something. You'd have to authorise your account with an internet connection at home/somewhere else and when you use it offline, it would save scrobbles in its cache. Take the USB stick home again, play something  and it will submit.

Sadly I don't think they now even allow use non-work USB sticks (I'm in the health service so data protection is mega tight).

I was hoping there would be a cache file created on my work PC whilst listening to music that I could then email to myself, and then paste this into the relevant place on my home laptop whereby the scrobbles would be uploaded by FB2K / foo_scrobble...

That's what I used to do with LastFM app when is was installed both at home & work (this was a long time ago btw). As I said. this method stopped working at some point, so I haven't been able to scrobble from work for years.

PS I've tried installing the component at work - installed OK but (predictably) does not appear to be permitted to connect to LastFM for authorisation  :(

I guess that's it then., unless it can still create a scrobble list file (without being authorised) which can then be used by another authorised installation of FB2K/foo_scrobble at home to upload to LastFM ... ?
