nevermind, i was just beeing overly paranoid.

youtube source 3.8 most if not all libraries used on this plugin, are open source, and its safe on any detection(virustotal)/windows defender.

also the tmp file through shell integration using "foobar2000 shell associations updater" i was wondering why it was creating a temp folder called "hax"(insert 4 random numbers OR letters here).

apparently, its by the guy who made the libcurl, and the last part of his email is @haxx. his library is also open source on github.

i feel like such a fool right now, sorry for trying to fear monger out of my own fear.

It handles file type associations. Whenever a new component, or an updated component, changes which file types it registers for associations, that external component must update the system to match the added or removed file types.

Of course, file types don't automatically take over, as of Windows 7. They'll just be announced to the system, and the system will, on first launch of a given file type after a new handler is registered.

foobar2000 codebase is full of harmless easter eggs such as "hax", "chtulhu fhtagn", early 2000s internet memes, random Finnish profanity, etc.
If you see any of these in technical messages, it's perfectly normal.

Actual malicious software would rather try hard to avoid alerting you.

That said, I didn't realize that this is actually shown in a UAC prompt now (certainly wasn't when I wrote relevant code), I'll try to get it changed to be less scary.
Microsoft Windows: We can't script here, this is bat country.

Oh, crap, I didn't notice that, either.
