Volume Control on Windows 10

After my Windows 10 upgrade (from 8.1) I can no longer control volume using the Foobar 2000 slider (lower right 0 - -100db). Sliding it has no effect. Volume is still controlled by Windows, but the slider does not slide. Where this becomes a problem is that volume control on Android Foobar 2000K controller or Bubble (now playing) is not working (slider slides but no effect on Windows volume). On another PC with Windows 8.1 everything is still fine.

I reloaded both Foobar 1.38 and the Contoller Windows setup. No help. Proper function of the Foobar Windows client seems necessary. Has anyone had or fixed this problem?

Did you happen to install an ASUS Xonar sound card in your Inspiron?

No

I am not sure why I expect the foobar slider and Windows slider Volume Control to slide with each other. For me on W10 both VLC and MPCHC sliders control volume but the sliders do not slide along with the Volume Mixer sliders. So far I see the sliders controlling and moving in sync on WMP.

So the problem is that the Foobar slider (as client or renderer) is not controlling volume on my Windows 10.

Does it work for anyone on W10?

As far as I know the volume slider in foobar is only meant to control the foobar volume. This is a software slider and not controlling the whole soundcard...

I am only using WASAPI output so I could be mistaken, because I haven't used directsound or other output plugins for years.

Go into Preferences -> Playback -> Output and select your default sound output device.
