Quick search toolbar: results are stuck

Hello all. I'm new to foobar, and I'm absolutely loving it. However, there are a few issues that I'm having with it.
First thing, is no matter what I try, I can't get search to work right. I'm using quick search toolbar 3.4 at the moment, but any search does the same issue I'm about to explain.

So what happens is, I search for something, and the results come up, but I can't clear the search. The search results are stuck there even if I clear the search bar.
the only thing that brings all my music back up, is searching for a single letter like "e"
This is no good though, because a lot of my music is in Japanese.

Another minor knitpicky thing is that the album art doesn't change when the next track starts playing. It's really driving me nuts, as I really love album art (as you can tell by my setup) and I'm pretty "OCD" about it.

What have you set Quicksearch to search in?
Database/Playlist (inline/all)?

To make it a bit better looking you can also lock the toolbar, it will remove the dotted lines.

I'm not actually sure. How would I check that?

Just found where to set search in. It was set to database. Setting it to anything results in no search results at all.

Does it change the playlist when you search, to e.g. #Quicksearch?
Then you need to change it back to Default or any other playlist.

Album art: Try right click and select Front cover, then check under Preferences > Display > Album art (Search patterns).

It changes the playlist to #Quicksearch when I search for something, but when I change it back to default, it's blank.

casman, I don't think you're doing anything wrong -- it's simply a failing of the component's design. I wanted to use this component as my search toolbar but kept going back to foosion's Database Search component (even though it can't handle Query Language searches).

I don't understand some of the choices regarding the functionality of the Quick Search component.

The same thing happens no matter what search bar I use. I'll search for something, the results will appear, and when I clear the search bar the results stay. If I press enter on a blank search bar, all my music disappears until I search something again.

I can't get to any music that is in Japanese, because Japanese won't work in the search bar.
