Feature request:
Could it have the ability to remove all silence (until threshold is reached) in beginning and end of track?

You mean physically trim the file?

Unless the mp3 format supports some form of lossless editing -- like JPEG with its 8x8 blocks -- I'd say no, it can't have that ability. :\

Though it possibly not an issue with lossless formats, or different compression schemes such as ogg. I really couldn't say.

Thanks for the crossfader! May i ask for a simple toggle on/off menu item under main menu -> playback wich lets you quickly (assigned to hotkey or button) switch on and off the crossfader when it is enabled by dsp manager.

I would prefer DSP presets to be availble through the menus. This could also accomplish g-stankovic's request.

You do realise that foobar2000 is a player and my request is an addition to an implemented DSP component, right? Otherwise I could have used mptrim and wavtrim if I wanted to tamper my collection in a lossy way. - But eventually this request will add that feature, if one wanted to convert a bunch of files and trim them as well (could be a nice feature for creating compilation cd's)
Can't wait for a HD-AAC encoder :P

I have split several unrelated discussions to individual threads:

Problem switching between playlist groups
How to create autoplaylists
Using title formatting in autoplaylist queries
Converter interface suggestions
File Operations suggestion: replace existing files

Please try to keep the noise level low, so that bug reports and requests related to changes in the beta won't go unnoticed.

Feature request:

This is a very minor thing and I understand that different people may have different tastes in this matter.

Request: Please make the Remove from Playback Queue menu item remove only the last instance of a multiply queued track.  This way it would be more convenient to correct mistakes where one has accidentally queued a track several times.

I wouldn't like that. You would have to repeat the clicking several times to completely remove an item from the playback queue.
However a keyboard shortcut action with this behaviour would be nice.

I've noticed that "Open Containing Folder" is not working.

I don't know if this is a bug with 0.9.5.4 beta 2 or some problem with my system, so I'd appreciate if someone else try to reproduce it.

Thanks!

Standard reply: Use teh search.

I've noticed that "Open Containing Folder" is not working.
The internal way how it works has changed, for details see this topic. The only difference I'm aware of is that it does nothing whereas the target path does not exist anymore, when the old implementation opened a dummy window of Desktop or something like that. I doubt your directory has disappeared, though - would you mind posting the whole path of the file on which you are trying to use the command?
Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

Sure, here it is: D:\TEMP\Tmp\1_10 - Track_10.mpc

I play that file, the directory is there for sure
I tried the command on many files in different folders, and it's not working. Maybe it has nothing to do with foobar...

For me, "Open containing folder" ultimately ends up running

Code: [Select]
"C:\WIXP\system32\rundll32.exe" C:\WIXP\system32\shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL "F:\MP3s\New\13 & God-13 & God"

which opens an "Open with..." selection dialog, which is also not what I would expect.

Unless I'm very mistaken older versions of foobar just opened Windows Explorer in that folder - shouldn't it simply be calling SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems from shell32.dll?

Had to split even more posts:

ReplayGain suggestion: on/off button, view current status
Suggestion: delete artwork alongside with the album
Scanning for new media library items

It looks like people misleadingly believe that bringing things up in here will increase their chances of getting a particular feature implemented. That is not the case. The period between beta and final is reserved for making corrections to changes introduced with the new version, in order to release a bug-free final after a week or two. Development and brainstorming on other ideas does not take place in this time.

So again, please do not spam this beta thread with completely unrelated questions or suggestions.

Rule of thumb: When in doubt, start a new topic.

I believe it does, but it's in turn doing that for some reason ?

Does "Find target.."/"Open file location" on shortcut properties work for you two?

No. When I click on the "Find target.." for any shortcut, nothing happens!

It's interesting that "Open Containing Folder" worked a few days ago, before I upgraded to the new beta.

D'oh...  *slaps self*

That'll teach me to set the "(Default)" value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell to "explore" and not "explorer" - should've thought of checking that sooner...

I've done that hundreds of times before (okay, tens of times) and managed to do it without tyops - until now...

But I wouldn't be surprised if there was something amiss near that registry key in eevan's case as well.

Out of curiousity, was the Replaygain scanner updated at all in the recent beta? It seems to be scanning a good bit faster for me these days (though it's possible that my recent culling of a bunch of components I don't use any more might have something to do with that too).

In any event, I quite like the new beta. Thanks, guys!

  • Ability to view/edit queries used to create autoplaylists.
  • Album List: ability to select multiple items at once by holding shift or control keys.
  • New built-in DSPs: Crossfader, Skip Silence.

Thank you! Such small but invaluable changes!

  • Media Library Search: queries using “SORT BY” create always-sorted autoplaylists by default.

Maybe I'm missing something, but this doesn't work as I would expect. One of my autoplaylists is sorted by date. If I change the date of one of the albums in that playlist, the order doesn't change. Shouldn't the album move to its new position whenever a sorted-by field has changed? (I have "create always-sorted autoplaylists" checked on in the preferences, by the way.)

Does the order change if you edit the sorting pattern in the "Sorting pattern" field instead of using a SORT BY query?

Works in beta 3.

Is the "Force-sorted" checkbox necessary? When I don't want the playlist to be sorted I leave the "Sorting pattern" field blank.
