There have been too many new posts

I noticed a very strong activity on the forums, according to the "there have been x new posts" report on the portal.

But those numbers are wrong. I disconnected about 1 hour ago, and coming back, the portal tells me "there have been 90 new posts in 30 threads since your last visit".

I click "show more", and see 11 topics instead of 30 with new posts inside. I go back to the portal and "click here to view all new posts". The search returns then 19 posts instead of 90.

Why the difference ?
