Creative 4224 CDRW Problem

I own a Creative Labs 4224(4x write, 2x rw, 24x read), and using CDSpeed, I get a VERY high number of errors on DAE, and DAE quality is shown at 0.  The drive doesn't support accurate stream, is this why?  I've had this drive for awhile, but I've only used it to write CDs, but I'm using it as my primary CD device as my LiteOn drive died.  It really can't be THIS bad can it??
