mpeg stream (sync) errors in 24-bit

Hi all,

I have a lot of mpeg stream (sync) errors using foobar 0.7.4 with my 24-bit creamware pulsar card. Does anyone have the same experience when running foobar in 24-bit mode or know a way to solve this? Could it be a latency problem?

Thanks for any replies,
Olivier.

I have a lot of mpeg stream (sync) errors...

It's rather because your files are broken.

Mpeg sync errors have nothing to do with output bitdepth - it is decoder error not output one. Your file IS broken and you'll have exactly the same messages using any output including null output that does not use soundcard at all.

OK, then probably I do not know about something. But it's strange that output triggers  stream sync error - isn't it related exclusively to garbage or missing parts in mpeg bitstream?...

Sounds like broken computer and hard drive read corruption when playing 24bit sound. Try using full file buffering (preferences / playback).
Microsoft Windows: We can't script here, this is bat country.

i increased the latency of the card from 10 to 25ms, working okay now.

too bad about the higher latency though. :-\

25 ms is overkill for simple playback, and is probably as unnoticeable as 10 ms anyway. Way better than getting sync errors.
