Music collection database program

Hello,

I'm looking for a program with that I can easily manage my music collection...

The perfect program would have:

- freeDB support (reads and automaticly adds the CD to the database)

- should be small and easy to use

- should have all those "normal" functions like export to different formats, print etc.

Er, that's all that I can think of (it's a bit late here and I'm quite tired...).

And it should be freeware  .

Thank you for your help and time.

Cheers,

Mijo.

Thank you both, I really appreciate it...

I will look into your links...

BTW, I don't drink coffee very often so that's not an "must have" feature ;-) . If it could brew beer, that would be a different story  .

Cheers,

Mijo.

Er, I know that I'm ungratefull, but I was thinking on  a program that will organize my "normal" audio CD's... Not of an MP3 or whatever format, organizer...

And after I looked at the size of some of the programs. Bloatware...

I would even pay for a program that could do all of the things in the first posting. It seems that the freeware programmers find this too boring  .

Thanks and all the best,

Ookie.

Have you looked at CATraxx?  A nice program, but you'll have to pay for it.

Otherwise, why not create your own Access-based db?
Was that a 1 or a 0?

Thanks. Now, I'll only have to save enough money to buy CD Trustee...

And I thought, CD Trustee is expensive, CATraxx could be viewed as a status symbol  .

> Otherwise, why not create your own Access-based db?

Pick one: lazy, no time, didn't use Access for ages...

Thank you all, I really appreciate your help.

All the best,

Mijo.

Have you considered Broken Cross Disk Manager? Although this one is commercial and the demo version has a limit of 30 discs, the author has made an older, fully-functional version of the program available as a free download. Here are the relevant links:

Broken Cross Software Homepage: http://www.broken-cross.com/

Broken Cross Disk Manager 2.30a: http://www.broken-cross.com/bcdm/en/index.php?Site=download

The second link is to a page from which you can download either the current demo version (2.30a) or the fully-functional free version (2.0). Hope this helps...

Not sure if this fits all of your criteria, but I happen to like it.

Try Media Jukebox.
www.musicex.com

They are currently finalizing the version 8.
I'm sure there is even a option to make a coffee somewhere in this soft.

Hi, if you are only looking for an audio CD manager,
then look at Quintessential Player (http://www.quinnware.com/).
Version 3 is good but I still prefer version 1 (still available on the download page).
It's freeware, small (256kb), use CDDB, keep a local DB of all the CD and allow you to export it in a text file that can be parsed by Excel / Access,..

Another good CD player is Axialis Cd player,
not freeware but also keep a local DB and allow to export an Excel file or a cdplayer.ini file.

I have also tried Music Collector, but I don't like it too much.

For a very good freeware mp3/mpc collection manager, you can go with MAC, a very very good tool.

It seems that Helium 2 allow to keep track of both CD and MP3/MPC, I'm trying it now, it seems very "heavy" but it is a good tool. Hope it become a freeware ;-)

So, if you find the Audio manager of your dreams, keep us informed.

So I add another one: Songs-DB (www.songs-db.com)

Shortly, it is a Music Manager, Scanner, Player, Encoder, Decoder, Convertor, Grabber, Tagger, Renamer, Playlister, Locator, Cacher, Previewer, Normalizer (ReplyGain) and CDDBer.
