mp3 popup description in winxp not displaying properly

howdy all...

up until recently...whenever i was viewing mp3 files within the windows explorer of win xp...the popup description would list pertinent mp3 info (artist, album, bitrate, track #...stuff like this). for some reason lately...all that is displayed in the popup description is normal file info (file name and type, size, date modified). i can't figure out if i'm now missing a program, a plugin, a codec, etc. that i previously had...or if a setting of mine was inadvertently changed. it was nice having this quick bit of info...and i miss it. i know that i can go to view--->choose details and select what will be displayed and the column sizes...but i liked the popup. and ideas? thanx.
