Rescan media library doesn't remove nonexisting files

Well, the title says what my problem is about. After I delete or move a file that is in my media library with some other application it remains there even after a media library rescan.

This problem hasn't occured in some earlier 0.9 versions. Have I missed some setting? Or is it a bug of foo_uie_quicksearch.dll ?

Here is my versioninfo:
Core (2007-08-20 17:04:00)
    foobar2000 core 0.9.4.4
foo_dsp_std.dll (2007-01-20 01:36:56)
    Standard DSP array 1.0
foo_input_std.dll (2007-08-20 17:01:56)
    FLAC Decoder 1.1.0
    Standard Input Array 1.0
    WMA Decoder 1.1
foo_rgscan.dll (2007-08-20 17:01:02)
    ReplayGain Scanner 2.0.2
foo_ui_columns.dll (2007-07-23 00:36:02)
    Columns UI 0.2.0 beta 1
foo_uie_quicksearch.dll (2007-05-18 13:31:10)
    Quick Search Toolbar 2.8l

First, open the album list component:
Then, via the contextual menu (right click), choose Remove dead entries (slow)
        *  To really delete the file from the library, the deleted file must NOT be in any playlist !! (except auto playlist ones) Warning !! Warning !!
        * If it does not work, it may come from a panel. Do the same operation without the files in your panels.

I hope it will help you..

Thank you Bachi-Bouzouk, the album list component did the job!

But I would expect the "Rescan Media library" command to do that, too. Why does it not? Is it a bug?
Actually I don't want to load the album list component just for removing dead entries. I don't need it otherwise.

(...) it remains there even after a media library rescan.

Where is "there"? How do you verify if it's still in the media library?

"there" means in the media library / database
I can find it with the quicksearch component or find it with a text editor in database.fpl.

I noticed this problem too.
Could someone please tell me if there is a real reason behind this. I really couldn't think of a anything.

To me it seems only logical to have "rescan media library" delete all the dead items. If there is a need to preserve dead items, there should be checkbox in the options whether or not to delete dead items.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not demanding it to be fixed  Just wanted to tell how I see it.

I was thinking exactly the same.

I addition I have the impression that, if I load a playlist taking one of those I saved before and in the meantime something is changed for example in the tagging or in the position of some files, the playlist will look exactly the same.
To update it a rescan or something like that has to be done. Or am I wrong?

Moderation: removed accidental double post (which was merged with this one).

in the current version I don't have this problem anylonger. Maybe it was a bug and it has been fixed.

Funny, it does remove them now.

When I made the previous post I was already using the newest version and haven't reinstalled foobar even once.

Well, I'm glad it works now
