Bitrate for DVD-compatible audio

Hello. I just purchased the Magix Cleaning Lab.  One of the things I want to do is capture some audio for use in a home movie.  I recall one bit rate being compatable with NLEs and DVD movies.  When I capture I can't remember which choice it is 44k or 48k.  I hope someone can help.

thanks,
dcp

48 kHz is compatible with DVD (BTW - this is not the bit rate, but sampling rate  )

specifically, you can use 24-bit, 48 kHz PCM on a DVD.

Thanks, what I'm doing specifically is capturing audio from some purchased Walmart songs that they explained I could copy and use 10 times.  What they neglected to say was I needed at least W98se and Media player vers 9 to create mp3.

I have an old W98 PIII that I use for internet only and I have my new P4 for home video editing.  Since this old timer I'm on can't run the newer Wmedia player, I purchased the Magix program to capture and clean up various audio inputs.  I also have some old LPs I want music from.

I will be importing these captures to Adobe Premiere Elements for making my home movie. I suppose it will encode the audio anyway but I thought I'd start out with something compatable.
