Newb Q's EAC- FLAC

I've configured EAC and ripped a CD according to step 1.b in this sticky description: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=16146

When adding the single file album and cuesheet to Foobar, the cuesheet's track names are incognito, and the tracks won't play (FLAC plays indeed BTW; just not the cuesheet tracks)
How do I split the image; either the wav or encoded FLAC from that single image I got at step 1.b. above? Is there a setting option within the FLAC frontend for this, or is a properly working cuesheet the answer?

More FLAC frontend q's:
Encoding options; Level: 6 was default. What sort of differences does 1-8 make?
Replaygain: Does no harm, does it?
Cuesheet: Since I'm using EAC options >> Filename, do I just leave this unticked in the FLAC frontend, or is this where I cure the incognito problem I mentioned above with Foobar?

This may explain why the cuesheet won't work.

You can split the image in foobar using Diskwriter (0.8.3)/Converter (0.9) or on the command line using ACDIR.

No luck with the cuesheet.  The single flac file is there, but it's not named either .flac or flac.flac, and adding'.flac'. didn't help.

I'll try the Foobar tools, but isn't there a way just to split the image right there in the folder for use in hardware players?

Sorry, I guess I should have read the tutorial that you referred to.

Using the method you are using - i.e. storing the cuesheet in the FLAC CUESHEET block - all TITLE and PERFORMER commands are stripped.  See the FLAC FAQ.

If you want to retain TITLE and PERFORMER commands you will need to store the cuesheet in a VORBIS COMMENT in your FLAC file.  foobar supports this tag, and so does ACDIR. Many people use this method as it is less restricting.

foobar or ACDIR can split into the same folder as the FLAC if you want.

Another alternative, if you want both the FLAC image and MP3 (or other lossy format) tracks is using a tool like WACK, REACT, or FLACAttack.  Search the forum to get URLs.  These tools let you get both in the same run.

If you don't always split your image to tracks then I would stick as you are and use foobar or ACDIR - depending whether you want GUI or script.

That said, if you want to embed the cuesheet in a VORBIS COMMENT to maintain TITLE/PERFORMER info then you will need to modify your method anyway.

Are you sure it's a FLAC file if it doesn't have a .flac extension?!

Well, I end up opting for: ripping to a single wav image | encoding to flac | splitting the cue.
Three frontends and a step or two extra to tackle the above issues, but the smooth gapless ride in foobar is worth it with live recordings.

you can still have gapless playback without the large image file, just check the guide in my signature below.
