A/52 over S/PDIF for FB2K

I was messing around with VLC playing a DVD that had DTS Audio tracks and selected a choice in the Audio output called A/52 over S/PDIF - this resulted in the stream being sent out my ASUS HDAV HDMI audio card to my Pioneer SC-27 receiver as 24/96 DTS and it sounds much better than what I have been using which is ASIO that results in a PCM bitstream.

Can someone tell me if FB2K can do this type of output and if so how to do it?

When I play the tracks in FB2K they have been extracted and encoded as lossless .flac files. 6 channel.

This actually is a bit more confusing - so far the only DVD that plays out at DTS 96/24 is a U2 18 Singles DVD - all the rest output as normal DVD but still play a bit louder than FB2k through ASIO.

The VLC player disables the volume control but FB2K does not - is there a way to bypass the volume circuit?

It would be nice if someone could explain exactly how a stream is processed in FB2k.
