EAC Configuration doesn't have to be so hard.

Whenever I've needed to help someone set up EAC, I've sent them a copy of my saved profile and told them how to configure Drive Options.

Most of them still had lots of troubles with Drive Options.

In theory, I think it would be possible to make 1 profile file that is pre-configured for many drives. But it would be huge.

Instead of just listing drive offsets on the AccurateRip page they should have people with those drives upload pre-configured EAC profiles for people to use.

If someone knows the format of the profile file it could even be created automatically for different drives. This would be a life-saving tool.

EAC Configuration doesn't have to be so hard... because it isn't. Especially if you'll be using FLAC or LAME. Just use the config wizard. Insert your CDs until one is recognized by Accuraterip which will automatically configure your offset. That's it. You're done.

Does that actually result in all the best settings for an exact rip? Last I checked it put you in beginner mode if you used the config wizard.

It also requires that you have some pop CDs that are in the AccurateRip database, so it's not practical for all of us.

Beginner mode is disabled by default. I'm just not sure if it's the default option in the config wizard.

As for offsets, what if your drive is not in this database? Is there another way of finding it out aside from testing your available CDs?

Perhaps it did if you weren't paying attention when it asked you which you'd prefer.
