I have used another script and now it should work with or without Javascript, under IE explorer, firefox, opera and safari

If anyone sees any problem please tell me

(I will try to improve a bit the organization of the menu)

Now you have a direct access to the plugin list and the titleformat reference under miscellaneous.

A page about the trackinfo panel is coming. I should create a page about the album list, foo uie lyrics and lyrics db

Hey bachi-bouzouk,
I want to give you a "Thank you" for your hard work, you're doing on this foobar-guide. In my opinion it is a great help for foobar-newbies and also a quick reference for advanced users!

Great work, helped a lot.

May I suggest a change in the Icon's meaning thing? The way it is right now, each icon is not very representative. You only differentiate them by color, since they all carry the same foobar2000 logo. Would be better if each had a more associative image. Maybe you should look for free icon collections (try DeviantArt).

Also, in terms of page design, I would remove the foobar2000, foosic, W3C and Xiti buttons, replacing them with regular text in the bottom of your page. Getting rid of the '>'s aside each menu item could be good too (maybe you can use a simple line-dotted black border around each item instead).

I think that's been mentioned already, but the menu organization is quite confusing. You should try getting the number of sections to a minimum, making specific subjects derive from more general ones (not necessarily showing the specific ones in the main menu, but in the pages that they derive from).

For icons, associative images in 16*16 format is not that simple and as the meaning of icons is reminded on each page, I think it's still quite clear, I will try to see what I could do about that but I'm doubtful about improvements

for the icons, I won't change them as they are here to attract the eye and provide links to important websites I will only change the W3C one I think

for Xiti, it's free and I'm really happy to use it to count visitrs on my website, giving them an Icon is a good reward for the service given.

The ">" are here to show that there are submenus, else, users won't know and could miss some information

About the menu I've tried to reduce it again but I think that I can't reduce it more or people would search items in wrong places or even don't find the information at all

For example, the custom fb2K page is very problematic

for the moment, the whole menu with all sub ites looks like this
http://eolindel.free.fr/foobar0.9/menu.html

But If anyone has ideas about how to make it less confusing, tell me, I consider every opinion

For the momet, I have also a test version for the menu here:
http://eolindel.free.fr/foobar0.9/index2.shtml
But I'm not satisfied with the result, anyway any opion would be great

@Chaser, thanks

I have changed the website even if users won't see anything: I use CSS instead of tables:
http://eolindel.free.fr/foobar0.9/index.shtml
Some graphic improvements of the website may come soon. I will try to keep it it simple but "eyecandy".

It has been tested under IE and Firefox

If anyone notices any problem like elements not at their place, please please tell me.

edit I have found a way to create a tutorial for the masstagger with a better sound quality thanks to audacity I will try to recreate the videos in the coming days.

Some news:

I started to count the nineth of July. It seems that foobar really needed a manual.

I have also started to translate my manual in french. It should come in the next fortnight.

But there is still some work left.. Especially about lyrics, some options available under General, some plugins etc..

"pages vue" means pages read
"Visiteurs" Visitors.

Whoa, 250 visitors per day on average? That's quite a lot!

Congrats for one of the most useful website for foobar2000, Bachi-Bouzouk. If there be an award, you deserve one

It's nice to know that many people are benefitting from your effort.

Good work Bachi!

I have translated my manual in french, the UI tutorial is not yet translated, nor the FAQ and the Replaygain page
http://eolindel.free.fr/foobar0.9/pages_fr/index_fr.shtml

It has been translated between 1 and 5 a.m, so a lot of mistakes should remain.

And I translated it quite quickly, so it may be quite "raw". But as I'm leaving tomorrow for Normandy, I won't be able to upload my work for about a fortnight.

To switch between the two languages, you just have to use the menu

I also made some graphic changes: the logo of my website is new, all icons have been modified, the warning picture too, as was the "0.9 new". There also is a new icone above the menu on the left.

In the links page, I have also added icons to point to my website:

I think you could mention the Various Artist tagging feature on the freedb page in further detail. It allows the component to parse the freedb track title into %artist% and %title%.
For example "Foo / Bar" will be broken into two parts, "Foo" and "Bar".

You can also mention the new "freedb2.org" server aiming at replacing freedb.org eventually.

I'm creating a repository, cf this topic:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=43194

If all goes well, I will publish a public version in less than a week. But as I'm learning PHP, it could be longer

What it does:
-add a new plugin
-edit a new plugin with values pre entered
-add 'foo_' at the beginning of the name of the plugin if it is missing
-add '.dll' at the end of the plugin if it is missing
-create a table with all plugins
-requires the version, the name of the plugin and the name of the writer of the entry (not the author of the plugin)
-replace spaces by underscores

What it does not:
-use a password
-check if the plugin is already in the DB
-upload the plugins
-delete a plugin from the db
-verbose output if missing conditons

I'm going to be able to use the wiki entries to update the database. (or at least, I hope to  )

For the moment, the database is used only for tests and it may evolve

@gaturn, thanks

I could write some documentation about the two plugins created by terrestrial:
foo_uie_trackinfo_mod & foo_uie_single_column_playlist. But as it would consume a lot of time, I would like to know if a lot of people are interested.

Is there a link to your nice manual anywhere in the support subforum? Every time I want to reference the manual for something it becomes a chore to find the link.  I suppose I could add it to my bookmarks but that wont help new users.

Moderators decided to remove the Must know sites because of the dead links and prefer to point to the wiki (with external resources pinned topic). It's very valuable as the wiki has the huge interest to be edited by everybody.

you could either bookmark my website and copy the link from your bookmarks or do the same with the wiki where my website stands in good place. (about 40% of people coming from external sites comme from the wiki and 30% from HA forums)

ABout the support forum, when I read it, it's often about very technical problems, thet's why I don't post too much there

I've changed the structure of my website (essentially, it should be better for switching from french to english, but the date of the last modification of the page is now indicated even if it is not always relevant )

If you ever see a 404 error or something similar, please tell me.
Old links should redirect at the new website. I will probably improve the redirection in the coming days.

Some little modification will probably come but the content of my website won't change much for the moment (not interested in writing anything for the moment)

My website didn't change for nearly a year and I'm trying to update it here is my todo list:

Quote
Complete the tools page.
Lyrics
Rewrite the masstagger page
Rewrite the Replaygain page
Tags: talk about the new propertie menu
Write a page about Discogs
Write a page about playlist dropdown
Write a page about panels UI with links
Finish the panels page.

If anyone would like to see a new page about a specific topic or new information, please tell me.

BTW, I completely changed the design:
http://eolindel.free.fr/foobar0.9/index.php (There ares ome minor problems with greenish screenshots but there shouldn't be major design problems now)

A new video tutorial for the masstagger may be created soon (in fact as  soon as I get back my broken laptop) for the moment it's only available in french:

Great work on the discogs page ! I couldn't be arsed myself to write a proper manual.

A few corrections:

1. "Enable Artist Variation processing : will search for the name of the artist but also similar names, for example: Goo Goo dolls and The Goo Goo Dolls"

This is not exactly what it do. Enabling this settings allows that if an artist name is an ANV, to tag using the artist name that is not an ANV. It'll be more clear using an example.

AFX is an ANV of Aphex Twin. If you tag this release http://www.discogs.com/release/40746 by AFX and enable the "Enable Artist Variation processing" setting, in the release dialog you'll have the option to tag %artsit% as "Aphex twin" instead of "AFX", by checking the "Replace ANVs" setting in the release dialog. Also the "display ANVs" check box shows ANVs appending a * to artist names like discogs does.

This setting is later useful  for artist search using for example foo_uie_quicksearch : by entering "aphex twin" you would find all aphex twin releases + releases of all it's ANVs.

2. "Automatically match discogs tracks to local tracks based on track length when available : As it is said, it will match tags and songs
Warning !! It's not that accurate, so be sure to match tags even with this option checked."

It tries to match discogs tracks and local tracks only if the number of tracks in both lists is the same and track length is available on discogs. It was buggy, but now works most of the time. The only case it could be off is if two tracks have the same length.

3. "Custom Info : The tag is considered as independant from discogs"

More specifically the tag is stored as custom info using foo_custom_info (it need to be installed for this feature to work). Custom info Tag is later available as any other tag using %: %custom_tag%

1. "Enable Artist Variation processing :

3. "Custom Info : The tag is considered as independant from discogs"

corrected (with your own words: you are the best man to explain what you're doing with your plugin !!)

Here it's still quite buggy for example, it's not correct on the screenshot while all songs have a different length
