Looking for a new sound card with front panel support

The topic says it all. I'm looking for a sound card in order to replace the onboard sound card (ac97) that I'm currently using. Do they even make sound cards anymore that have support for a generic front panel? (in this case a lian li pc60bplusII). After searching around newegg and a few other places it seems that most listings don't even tell you if the card in question supports a front panel (unless someone mentions it in the user reviews). Any help on the issue would be appreciated.

I don't think many, if any, soundcards directly support that kind of generic front panel hookup.

But all is not lost. One option would be to get a pair of 3.5mm plugs and change your case wires from internal to external. You probably will have to splice on additional wire and they will have to snake out of the case and plug in the back of the soundcard, but it will be 100% compatible with any card.

The other thing is that most creative cards have a block of pins of the card, with no documentation in the manual as to what they do. They are for the various creative front panel drive bays. So that means they have headphone / mic connectors on them. If you search you can find people who've figured out which pin does what, so you can hook up the generic ones.

thanks for the info, I was afraid of that. As to the creative hook ups, I have an older sound blaster live! I might give that a shot.
