It's only baseline H.264. ALL advanced  features like B-frames, CABAC, multi ref are disable.

iPod != iTunes...

btw, I've same question like Maurits asked before :  for those who have tested videos, are they related with some DRMs ? Could you play these videos with others players like VLC or some DShow players ?

I have not download the TV shows or any of these $1.99 videos yet, however I did buy the Gorillaz single a while back that came with the 4 video shorts.

These are MP4 files, playable in VLC just fine. No DRM that I have encountered.

Edit: However, after some searching, these may indeed be DRM'd according to some accounts. No definitive evidence yet.

One thing the TV Shows definitely are is 320x240 resolution, as they are meant to be played on the video iPod. $2 for a low res show? I think I'll pass. I'll download the HD version from BitTorrent instead. Not that I'd watch any of the currently offered shows anyway, mind you.

any clues whats up with he aac and he ps aac? (there is still no decoder in quicktime as it seems - if asking for encoder is nasty..)

I would like to see them expand their availability on TV shows. It would be nice to not have to go to a.b.m. every time I miss an episode of a TV series I am following. It will be interesting to see how the tv channels respond to this new 'threat'.

With 30 and 60 gig harddrives is aacPlus really required? The only good use I see for aacPlus right now is streaming audio over the internet where data rates do matter for many/most. Storing your music/audio in it is kinda weak, since its only for <128kbit and storage is plenty cheap enough for higher/better quality bitrates/encoders.
