Remote volume

Hi
I’m looking for the best way to have remote volume control.
I already have a stereo amp for my TV set up & I can control the TV with its remote or with a tablet but I can’t control the volume of the amp that way. As I’m disabled remote volume is rather important to me.
I’m not awash with cash and wondered if there’s any way I can do this without having to buy another amp. Is there maybe a cheap pre-amp that would do the job?
