Lyrics Show Panel (Modified version)

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask or not, but I'm having problems with the LYRICS tag in my FLAC files.... I'm trying to add a timing tag, which works fine in mp3 files, but not in FLAC files:

Code: [Select]
[ti:Title]
[00:42.50]blah blah blah lyrics

When using this scheme, the lyrics panel displays the following with an mp3 file:

Code: [Select]
Title
blah blah blah lyrics

But with my FLAC files, the formatting is still there and does not seem to recognize the timestamps:

Code: [Select]
[ti:Title]
[00:42.50]blah blah blah lyrics

Any ideas? Does FLAC format or the lyrics panel not recognize timestamps in FLAC files?
Thank you for your help.

I store my lyrics in /mp3/_lyrics_/%artist% but I have a problem showing lyrics from a particular album.

2 similar albums: Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985 and Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Essential, the lyrics are stored in the same folder,  the lyrics from the Montreux album show just fine, but I can't get to show the lyrics from the Essential album.

When I download the lyrics via the plugin, the lyrics are downloaded, saved and shown normally, but as soon as I restart foobar, it seems that it can't find the lyrics and are also not downloaded automatically anymore. I tried about everything I can think of, renaming, retagging, etc. but still no go. Anyone able to help me?

T.P Wang, thanks for plugin. Could you add some menu item for automatic lyric download?

Guys,

I just installed this component today, and I am amazed. It just works, it's brilliant...

There is just one thing: it fails to find lyrics for about 40% of the songs I tried, especially newer (2008-2009) songs. I just think this is an incredible waste, since I can find 100% of the lyrics to the tracks I tried on Lyrics Show Panel with a quick Google search or by using, say, the amazing http://www.songmeanings.net.

My question is: is there any way to make this component perfect by allowing it to broaden its search capabilities?

Thanks.

Hey, really sweet lyrics plugin. Thanks, for your efforts.

There's only one thing, that i don't get managed.
In Preferences i try to change the TAG to be read from. As my Mp3s have the lyrics embedded in UNSYNCED LYRICS i tried to change that but somehow it doesn't recognize the lyrics from there.

In the Settings i tried under 'Read lyric from TAG' to fill in UNSYNCED LYRICS;  and  UNSYNCED LYRICS;LYRIC  and
UNSYNCED LYRICS;LYRICS;LYRIC

But it doesn't read the lyrics (i can see they are there in file info)
Where is the flaw?

Hi. I just switched to this component from the original one, because I was having a problem... and I still have it with this version

Some of my lyrics are not displayed  let's say around 5% of them

I don't use lyrics tags, only txt and lrc files stored all in the same folder (specified in the path), and always with the EXACT file name as the song file name.
So after testing and testing and to make it all clear, I deleted all the entries in the "lyric file name" box, and left only one: %filename%

But sometimes it doesn't work, and I can't figure out why. For some songs in an album it finds the lyrics just fine, and for others in the same album, with the exact lyric file name as the song file name, without any weird character, etc, it doesn't work...

Does this happen to anyone else?

Any hints?

Thanks

This plugin would be perfect if it could search a series of places. First check its current one, then lyricsplugin, then lyricswiki, etc, etc as there are many databases out there.

(Also I'd love if it could search for an optional The in front of artist name as mentioned in a previous post)

Is the dev around, I haven't seen him post in awhile?

I'm curious, where does it get the lyrics from?
Can I upload lrc files to the server?

Yes the plugin has a weird behavior now and then (see my post above), it also sometimes displays the wrong lyrics, even if the correct lyrics are present.

I'm curious, where does it get the lyrics from?
Can I upload lrc files to the server?

Hello,

I'm using foo_uie_lyrics v3.3.9 (good component, BTW) and I see a typo in the preferences of this component.

Preferences -> Tools -> Lyrics Show Panel -> Internet tab

the option Save scheme: Save the *configruation* folder

and

the option Fail to embed: Save the *configruation* folder

Cheers,
A.

is there something like this, but without the Panels UI required?

This is not a panels component. It works with CUI.
It will also work with DUI with the addition of using it with Dockable Panels.

terry

Just FYI, there is no dedicated threads here that concern themselves with components that work only with Panels UI.

oh pardon me, i meant the columns UI, not the panels ui

edit: nevermind, it's ok now, i found the text display plugin for this

Would it be possible to make the tag the lyrics get written to to be customizable under settings (and utilizing foobar scripting)? And be able to set timestamped lyrics to be written to a different tag?
Also, when the lyrics aren't long enough to take up all the space in the panel, when you try to scroll it just acts really glitchy. I also find the change to scrolling distance to being locked to between the first line of lyrics at the top and last line at the bottom, since I then can't scroll and have the current line centered. :/

Option Request.

Much of what I listen to are live tracks. The length of any one song title can vary considerably across versions.
That is one of the reasons that I prefer .txt files for lyrics.

Having auto download set is very nice and I would like to maintain that option.

When a .lrc file is found, I can oftentimes override by doing a manual search and select a .txt.
However, upon a foobar restart, the .lyc file always has precedence. Either it will be loaded from my drive [if both files exist] or reloaded from net [and .txt file ignored].

Could there be an option added that would allow user to determine preference of lyric type.

thanks

terry

@ developer:

I´m using the panel with transparency. I experience a little bug. It seems that the transparency is only applied after the first track change event and not from the beginning. The background is black, drop shadow and fading effects are applied although unchecked and the formatting string for lyrics not found shows up twice. This happens e.g. when a song is playing and the panel is shown first time (by some PSS button e.g.) or when a song is stopped and you turn on the lyrics panel.

Could you have a look at this issue, please?

Apart from that I really love this component, keep up the great work!

@vogliadicane:
In fact, the pseudo transparent will update on new track, stop, pause, and WM_PAINT message. I've added a lot of hacks for PSS already, I don't know why because brett's kameleon seems to be OK, you should ask someone else who is experienced in PSS, for help(I don't use PSS, sorry).
And thanks for your support.

PS: I decide to write a new lyric component, because this component is now hard to maintain, I'll start it in late June or early July.

Transparency works here too...
Do you have placed the Lyrics Show Panel in Tabs?
That is the only situation your described "bugs" with transparency happened to me too.

Lyrics Show Panel (Modified version)

@ T.P Wang: these are good news, though I think it´s really fine now, only the transparency thing. Well and maybe some option to chose several lyrics sources would be nice. Anyway I´m shure it´s gonna be a great component again.

@tedgo: no, no tabs, just a panel which is hidden at startup and turned on by a PSS button.  I´ll try what happens, if I don´t hide it at startup...

edit: same result...

Hey, the lyric panel is working all fine, except most of the time, the lyric server is offline. Is it just me or is it offline most of the time? At the moment it is offline for me. Also a quick question, lyric association just finds lrc or txt files in the specfied directory, what happens if you don't use lyric association, will it continue to just download lyrics off the lyric server or will it find the lrc and txt files in the lyric folder? If someone could explain what happens i would be thankful.

I'm glad to hear this news. I had some plans similar to this, but I never started.
I have some suggestions (which is my original proposal), you may or may not think it is useful.

1. The lyrics downloaders should implemented as services (extends service_base class), so it is easy to support multiple sites and can be extended by other components.
2. It should handle charsets better, many .lrc has [encoding: ****] tag, just use that. (should check UTF Byte-Order-Mark first, of course)
3. The window class to display lyrics shouldn't direct derive from the CUI's class. The DUI's SDK may be released some day, we can support it from that point soon.
4. Optional, implement more parts of this components as services, we have *too* *many* lyrics components for foobar2000 but none of them works everywhere. By this design, we don't need the redundant works anymore.

@JackieKu:
1. I've already made lyrics as service, though it should be improved, see here: http://lyricsgrabber.googlecode.com/
2. Yes.
3. Thanks for your advice, I'll made it wrapped into a container window.
4. Well, first the lyric parser should made as service....

Try moving the panel with $movepanel_c(Lyrics,x,y,w,h), that solved my problems with Lyrics panel transparency.
