I deleted metadb.sqlite, \library-v2.0\*, \playlists-v2.0\*

@pulbitz, care to create a Process Monitor log showing what goes on over there? It's highly unlikely that foobar2000 locks the database form itself, I'd suspect that is done by some other application. But just in case it is locked by foobar2000 process you may want to share some configuration details. Perhaps there is some component out there that can do it.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

There are only two additional components that I install and use.
Masstagger 1.9 https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_masstag
Discogger 1.0.17.1 https://github.com/ghDaYuYu/foo_discogs/releases/tag/v1.0.17.1

And I have attached the config.sqlite and Process Monitor log files.

`new to report V2.0 Final X32 is not playing 192K Bit files properly. X64 pays correctly.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

Thanks @pulbitz. I could replicate the error messages in the console by using your config files, but only with foo_discogger installed. It seems to do some SQLite accessing of its own too.

@marktherob2005 - If you want to be helpful, post a sample file or at the very least tell what file format your file has. Your issue sounds like the Monkey's Audio playback problem, but it should be gone now.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

Thanks for the test.
However, I found it odd that uninstalling foo_discogger didn't fix the problem, so I tested again.

I deleted the foobar2000-v2 folder in its entirety, so it was completely defaulted.
I then recreated just the media library and playlists and tested them.
This didn't cause any problems.

However, if I change the "Playback | Order | Default" to "Shuffle (albums)", I get the "database is locked" issue!

Hi @pulbitz @case

IMHO it would be useful to clone the fb2k installation, reducing the library size (maybe by halfs) checking if the log still reports the same error.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

From what I've been able to test, the problem is not related to foo_discogger.
It happens even with a clean foobar2000.
I've written down my tests below to make it more clear.

1. Run a completely clean foobar2000 (%APPDATA%foobar2000-v2 folder doesn't exist)
2. Close foobar2000 (%APPDATA%foobar2000-v2 folder created)

3. Unpack and copy the attached library-v2.0.7z file to %APPDATA%foobar2000-v2 folder
https://www.mediafire.com/file/s8aewprg8xjn4h4/library-v2.0.7z/file

4. Once again, run foobar2000
5. Library - Album List, Right-click on "All Music" and click "Create Autoplaylist"

Up to this point, everything is fine.

6. Playback - Order - Shuffle (albums) or Shuffle (folders)

View - Console, The "database is locked" message is repeating.
Code: [Select]
could not compile SQL:
SELECT info, infoBrowse, size, lastModified, infoBrowseTime, created, attribs, attribsValid FROM metadb WHERE name = ?
database is locked

One thing I noticed with 2.0 is that the album list doesn't swap between light/dark font when text is highlighted based on how dark your background color is?

This is how it used to look: https://i.imgur.com/vTFDDkc.png
This is how it looks now: https://i.imgur.com/wElxea4.png

If I make the background any darker it's really hard to read the text in the album list because it's black instead of white, also when anything is clicked in the playlist the highlight color is removed and turns black so it's black on black and I can't read it at all.

Yes, the color of the selection is not adjustable, and on a black background in the "Album List" window, the selection is not visible at all, in all beta versions it is, everything was waiting for it to be fixed, but not yet.

Hi,
probably not a bug per se but: I have FB1.16 - normal install and FB2x64 normal install. I checked shell integration and all associations, context menus and all in FB2 and unchecked all of those in 1.16. The Enquenue and play with show wher I right click...but the files and folders play or que in old FB1.16 instead of FB2. I already checked the registry entries and they show the path to FB2.0 (Program files not ProgramFiles(86)). So the context menu does work but with wrong version of FB. How to fix this???

Thank you for the 2.0 !

After a clean install of the x64 version I had a very minor ui issue:
  • Open preferences > Output and hover the output device dropdown list
  • Without clicking on a device, switch to another preference, for exemple Networking. The tooltip "Please select a valid output device" is still there
  • If you click on the tooltip you even have the dropdown list unfolded

I have a strange bug with this chain of characters
Code: [Select]
Extra Prince, His Majesty Prince, P. Rince, Princ, Prince & Prince, Prince Jackson, Princes, Принс, פרינס, プリンス, 普林斯, 王子, 프린스

In some cases, foobar display it right and in other show squares.

For example, in properties main window show squares

but in the edit window is shown fine

Also in the display text component (foo_textdisplay) have a weird behavior. If it is displayed in the same line show squares

But in different lines, the characters in the new line show fine

Removing

Code: [Select]
פרינס

make the chain shows right in all scenarios

Can someone confirm if this happens also in windows and is not a wine bug?

I really like the possibility that you can convert and save files in 64 bit floating point but I have a case of when I convert a 6 channel 24 bit 48 KHz WAV-file into a stereo 64 bit floating point 48 KHz WAV-file the resulting max amplitude becomes infinite (VERY) large. There is no problem when I convert it in 32 bit floating point. How can that happen and will you please correct that issue? It could potentially damage electronics and loudspeakers...! If you have a file-hotel, I could send you the original 6 channel file.

Always check the result before you play it on your sound system! Regards Brian.

Hello!
I have one problem since I have installed fb2k 2.0 (32-bit), my media library is not being populated with files using other extensions such as s3m, vgm, mid, etc...
I have the extensions installed and up-to-date.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?

EDIT: Apparently setting the "restrict to" option to *.* instead of the original * fixes it.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

Not 100% sure, but 2.0 64-bit may not be able to handle components using windows "\" style paths (incorrectly unpacked into {settings dir}/user-components-x64).

This has x64/*.dll and works: https://www.foobar2000.org/getcomponent/7e6c5ce77cd445493206b263f9b9697c/foo_input_vgmstream.fb2k-component

While this has x64\*.dll and doesn't: https://github.com/vgmstream/vgmstream-releases/releases/download/nightly/foo_input_vgmstream.fb2k-component

If I re-compress the later with 7-zip (that creates linux "/" style paths) works fine. Powershell creates win style paths so it's a bit inconvenient foobar can't handle them (since it's the only default win cmd tool that can make zips).

ReFacets bug? -

Double-click action: 'Send to new playlist' + 'Start playback when sending selection to playlist', does not start playback. Then, Middle-click action: 'Add to current playlist', playback starts, and continued middle-clicks start the new track.

(Typically the reverse in previous years, 'Send' actions can start playback while 'Add' actions do not)

Hello,

I have raised an issue  https://github.com/mmtrt/foobar2000/issues/4 regarding change in CUE sheet functionality in foobar2000 V2.0, where foobar2000 v2.0 does not understand CUE sheets, which in v1.16.1 worked just fine.

I'll cross post it the into this 'upstream' site.

Hello,

(Sorry for my bad English)

Today I noticed that my foobar2000 cue sheets did not work in my Ubuntu 22.02 system after snap forced installation to version 2.0. I was able to resume cue sheet functionality by reverting back to v1.16.1 and disabling snap updates for foobar2000.

My use case: I have used cue sheet to index a number FLAC files converted from old recordings in reel tape, C-casette and MD-disks formats. Some of the FLAC file content is not of interest, and I have been able to (ab)use foobar2000 cue sheets to skip irrelevant sections in these FLAC files by assigning non-interesting sections to track 99. In v1.16.1, only last of the number 99 tracks (very short one) was present in the playlist loaded for the cue - effectively dropping non-interesting sections in the FLAC files.

Is it possible to have v2.0 re-implement the functionality, which we had in v1.16.1?

Thank You for this wonderful player - I have been using it I think over 10 years!

Best Regards Jukka

Below is an example for one of my cue sheets

If you're using github actions to upload artifacts/releases, The 7zip command line tool (7z) is included on the windows runners. I use it...

True that I can change the build scripts/tools around this (though this powershell powershell script is mainly for local builds), but seems like an unintended behavior, that other devs may encounter sooner or later. Or if \ paths aren't supported some error would be helpful (got me stumped for a while...).

My title formatting code for the Album List in 1.6.16 contained CR/LF's to make it easier to edit them in an external editor. They get imported in 2.0 and converted to two underscore ('_') characters.

Not a biggy but it took me a few moments to determine why underscores appeared and removed them from the 2.0 code.

I have had a deadlock of foobar2000 using ReFacets. I clicked first item of a column. Playlist view was flickering. No bad shutdown menu, no crash report. Adding "running" file and starting foobar2000 in safe mode didn't solve the problem. Had to replace configuration folder with a backup. Can't reproduce the bug anymore.

Re: foobar2000 v2.0 bugs

The graphical glitches in the first image suggest you've got a gdi handle leak. It could be refacets or it could be something else entirely that was to blame. IIRC, there is a per app limit of 10,000 and it could have been interacting with refacets pushed it over the edge.

You can enable a gdi object column in task manager in the details tab or use Process Explorer to check if it happens again.

I made a backup of the corrupt configuration folder. I replaced the intact configuration folder with the corrupt one. Deadlock again! Ran Taskmanager, its not a problem with gdi objects.
