So flac must also belong in the "not modern" group.

I would say that. The one guy who created the TAK codec did it all alone and reached a better compression than FLAC and other ones. WIth modern hardware we could probably reach a 10% better compression or even more.

Better compression, and append arbitrary tracks of arbitrary format and arbitrary duration into a single file? Sounds like a special case, not the norm.

A Codec with better compression which does not have all the problems I encountered the last days.
Your problems are related to containers rather than codecs.


PS: For me, the best container to keep several tracks together is a folder.
