Audio Player with crossfading based on dB-levels

Hi all!

I'm looking for an audio player that has the functionality to crossfade audio files based on dB-levels on start and end with a selectable fade-time, for example 2500ms

I discovered the crossfade-output plugin from sqrsoft for winamp a couple of years ago, but it seems the website no longer exists.

Does anyone know of any players, or output plugins for foobar/xmplay/etc., with these features?

Preferably freeware and/or opensource!

Thanks!

The SqrSoft ACF really is the gold standard of automatic crossfaders, at least in terms of features.

Only the SqrSoft home page is down. You can still visit http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/downloads/ to get the last release (1.7.6.1180). However, the plug-in isn't really compatible with newer versions of Winamp (5.5+) and the SHOUTcast 2.0 DSP. I've tried, but have been unable to reach the author to draw his attention to this.

Ah, thanks! I'll bookmark that now!

I've also tried to contact them, but without result.

I don't use SHOUTcast, but I'm using the SqrSoft plug-in (v1.7.6.1179) with the latest version of Winamp (5.6).

I have it set-up to crossfade when the 1st file hits -15dB.

I don't actually have it set-up to "fade"...  It does a "DJ-style crossfade", where the beginning of the 2nd song simply overlaps the "natural"  fade-out (if any) of the 1st song.  I have it set for a maximum crossfade time (overlap) of 5,000ms.    I've got the minimum set to zero so if the song "ends-cold", there is no crossfade/overlap, and no gap.

There is also a configuration option to Disable Advertisements.

Readers of this thread may be interested in a sophisticated, free media player available for download when you register (also free) at  BeatPort

It's called BeatPort Sync and is a cut down version of the popular, industry standard DJ App from Native Instruments - Traktor.

This free version doesn't actually cross fade on a dB drop cue like the OP requests but it does allow you to set a variable cross fade time of up to a minute and a half. So it functions much like DVDoug's settings described above.

What's more it will allow you to vary the tempo (pitch) of all samples and will automatically beatmatch for you. It works really well too.

Basic functionality will be familiar too anyone who has used one of the popular 'standard' media players. It just stitches together your playlist into a seamless mix.

A lot of fun for not much money (actually none at all) and very liottle hassle. Register, download and install shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes. Give it a try.
