Hi, thanks for the great component.  I'm a first time foobar user so there might be an obvious answer to this question:
I'm trying to recreate the itunes function where pressing the next/prev track button on a keyboard will skip to the next track, but automatically resume at the last played (or bookmarked) position. When I try to do that in Foobar with Bookmarks, pressing the next or prev track buttons starts the track at the beginning and not the bookmarked position.

When clicking on a track in NG playlist:
play track, press next track (first track's position is bookmarked), next track plays from beginning, press previous track button (second track's position is bookmarked), first track is played from beginning, press next track again, (first track's position is bookmarked again but in a different entry).
Basically if any track is clicked/played on in the NG playlist, a new bookmark entry is created

When clicking on a track in Bookmarks list:
play track, press next track (bookmark entry is updated with the next track's information), click on another track in NG playlist (bookmark entry is updated with the new tracks information).
So if a track is played from it's bookmark's entry, the entry is changed every time a new track is played. The only way I can see to change tracks without changing the track of the bookmark entry, is to choose another bookmark entry or press stop first.

The flags next to each entry are "PTR +" and the boxes I have ticked in settings are:
Code: [Select]
>General tab
track playlist
time capture
autoremove
autolink to playback queue on user starting another/shutting down
>Special tab
Autobookmark playing track
-on user starting another track in  different playlist
-on user starting another track in  same playlist
-on shutting down
capture playlist content
-even if playlist was cleared
Autobookmark playback queue
-on user starting another track
-on shutting down
-on loading playback queue bookmark
Autolink playing track to  playback queue on user starting another/shutting down

to be honest, I don't know what most of those do, but hopefully one of you can inform me of which settings to change to achieve the functions I want:
-one bookmark entry per track, one track per bookmark entry
-start a track at its bookmarked position when clicking on it in NG playlist or pressing the next/prev track buttons

Is it possible to do these things? Thanks.

If you need this for podcasts, the podcatcher add-on will remember the last played position and might help you.  If it's for music, then I let someone else answer.

Anyone know of an alternative? It's not funcional anymore. I had to remove it from foobar just for it to run.

Hello all,

I discovered this great plugin recently, but I would like to ask is there a way to do following:

1) bookmark the song only while playing it (without time position). If that's not possible, is there a way to delete remembered time position?

2) add or play multiple/all bookmarks in the same playlist or option to copy/export them (for instance to another folder in windows explorer) somehow. I would really like to play all/multiple bookmarks at once, or to copy them to portable mp3 player etc.

Many thank for your reply!

It would be cool if we could loop between two selected bookmarks along with adjusting the time. I just installed the bookmark plugin so maybe it can already do this?

The bookmarked time would need to be ms accurate for what I want if it is not already.

Is it at all possible to manipulate selected/all bookmarked tracks (play them at once/ export to separate playlist/folder, copy/drag-n-drop them somehow) ???

If not, i will have to find a way to do it somehow, because  in my opinion bookmarks are not bookmarked just to be in that list, but to be used.

Please someone advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

sorry, I may be very useless with this (just installed Foobar2000 a couple of days ago) but I cannot make the bookmarks plugin work "properly". I mean, it appears in the Preferences > Tools menu with its corresponding options, but once I am playing a track, there is no option to add bookmark, neither in the "playback" menu or in the context menu.

I unzipped the file "foo_bookmarks.dll" (only content of the file foo_bookmarks_0.3.4.1.zip) and all the "bookmark_icons.zip" to the Foobar folder (portable version, by the way)

It supposedly should appear in the context menu, right clicking on a track, but actually doesn't (see the pictures below).

If I go to Preferences > Bookmarks, some options cannot be selected, like the playlists in the playlist-based options.

A weird thing may be that, when clicking on Preferences > Bookmarks >Appearance, an error message appears saying "Not all appearance preferences are shown because Bookmarks has not been added to the layout."

I have no idea of why this is happening, but I cannot think of any more reasons for this not working, unless I may be missing needed files from a previous build, it is not compatible with the portable version, or I basically messed something up. Can somebody help me? I really need to use bookmarking as I basically listen to long audiobooks all the time.

Cheers.

(I cannot add the links to my pictures as they are uploaded to dropbox, so if you need or want any picture for reference let me know and I'll upload it to... where?)

New version 0.3.5 is available. One major change is that all playback queue related features have been removed.

ETA: Found a bug, I'll make a new post when it's released.

Thank you very much! Now the bookmark function seems to work fine, though there are several things I don't understand so maybe I have done something wrong:

I don't know where to unzip the bookmark icons, and when I go to preferences > Bookmarks > Appearance, Foobar crashes.

When I go to preferences > Display > Context menu, there are 3 options that can be added saying simply "bookmark", which doesn't make sense. The previous version didn't work but at least the options there were different (like bookmark, bookmark + and remove bookmark or sth like that).

Wasn't there a way to add some bookmark information to the columns in Foobar? If there is, I cannot find any.

And I also have a strange problem about bookmarks 'inside' the tracks: when pressing right mouse button on a track, there is only one "bookmark" option (even if in preferences>context menu I have marked the 3 identical ones). Even if I click there, I can't find a way to go back to that point if I advance. The only bookmark that seems to work is the one from the "playback" menu at the top, but then you have to go through different bookmarks in different songs and playlists. I have the feeling something is not working as intended.

Just to mention I am using a totally clean "installation" of Foobar 1.3.3 in "portable" mode, and then I copied both the file "foo_bookmarks.dll" and all the bookmark icons in the "components" folder.

Cheers.

I think I kind of understand one of the 'issues' now: the bookmarks are put in common entirely between different playlists and tracks (I think even removed playlists) which drives me a bit crazy as I end up moving between different tracks and different playlists when I select Playback > Previous/Next Bookmark.

Is there a way to simply see which bookmarks the current song has, and navigate only amongst them (without having to remove the bookmarks from other songs)?

Failed to load DLL: foo_bookmarks.dll
Reason: Wrong version number; this component appears to have been built with a newer version of the foobar2000 SDK, please download latest version of foobar2000 in order to use it.

Hi, let me know where i can get latest version that runs on 1.2.9, thanks

Still not understanding where the bookmarks are displayed. After selecting the context menu 'Bookmark' of the currently playing track there is no indication it's bookmarked, and neither the Prestart value works which makes me think it's not functioning. Am I missing something?

I don't know where to unzip the bookmark icons, and when I go to preferences > Bookmarks > Appearance, Foobar crashes.

Can confirm it crashes foobar2000 v1.3.6 when the Appearance tab is selected. Have no idea why.

Nice plugin, very useful. I have a question though: Can the "Autoremove" function deactivated? I want to keep some bookmarks, even if the track has finished.

Also noticed under the Playback menu an item appears to be blank:

Is there meant to be something there, or is it a bug?

Oh, this is only for Columns UI, had mis-interpreted the OP's note and thought it was still compatible with Default UI as well. Also the thread is for foo_bookmarks, it's just the title hasn't been updated.

Is there a way to add the bookmarks as a separate playlist?

I don't want to click View>Bookmarks to get the popup playlist of Bookmarks every time.

I'm not using Columns UI, but I do have Columns installed, just the default, so I don't want to add a panel for the bookmarks... I want it as an actual Playlist tab.

Its works great, just want to be able to have the bookmarks readily accessible as a tab.

Hey good plugin.  Would you consider updating it so you can edit the times of existing bookmarks?  Sometimes it will be just a little off and it's kind of a pain to create a new one then find the old one and delete.

Also I think I found a bug.  When I add more than 1 or 2 bookmarks to the same song, the first one's time resets to a time similar to the new bookmark minus a couple seconds.

Having used the component for a while now this is my wanted feature. Having to delete bookmarks of the same track is a hassle when updating a single existing bookmark would be preferred (similar to how a real life bookmark functions). Along those same lines,  removing bookmarks when used/played is also an option that would be appreciated.

The other feature I'd like to see is the ability to send all bookmarks to a custom playlist rather than the dedicated Bookmarks panel (if it's possible to retain timecodes, not sure if it is).

Also I think I found a bug.  When I add more than 1 or 2 bookmarks to the same song, the first one's time resets to a time similar to the new bookmark minus a couple seconds.

Sure this isn't due to having the 'Prestart seconds' setting enabled in the foo bookmark preferences?

Hi, foo_uie_bookmarks works well for what I want, but I want to disable the "Time" position... I want it to always start at the beginning...

In short, I want to only bookmark the song, always at 0:00, so each time it plays a bookmark, it's at the start.

How can I achieve this?
