Multimedia keys don't work when UI is minized

I have been tinkering with foobar & columns_ui for a couple days now and I've got it almost set up how I want it, except for one little thing...

I have "multimedia keyboard support" enabled, but when I set columns_ui to minimize to the tray (and minimize it to the tray), the buttons on my MS multimedia keyboard won't work (same with my ATI Remote Wonder, which I assume communicates with foobar the same way the keyboard does)

Any ideas?

This probably belongs in its own thread, because I don't think it's an issue specifically with columns_ui.  Have you searched the forum for "multimedia keyboard"?  This is a fairly common question.  Basically, you'll need to reassign the keyboard shortcuts in foobar's preferences so that they're "global".  You can't edit existing shortcuts, so you'll have to delete the existing ones and recreate them as global shortcuts.
