Subwoofer on a desk, to insulate or not to insulate.

So I just put a new computer desk in and moved my sub from it's old dusty, dirty home to it's new place on this desk. I remember someone telling me a few years ago then when placing a subwoofer on carpet, it's good to place a ceramic tile underneath so the carpet doesn't suck up as much bass.

Well my question is quite the opposite, do you think it'd be better to anchor the sub to a hard desk so they operate in vibration together, or would it be better to fold a table cloth in half and allow the subwoofer to be more acoustically suspended from the desk?

Right now I've got the table cloth under it and it sounds pretty good. I'd just like a second opinion and some more insight on the subject.

Verdict is I will leave the cushion down because my monitor is on the same table and I don't want it vibrating to the sub frequency.
