I'm new around these parts, even though I've been reading these forums for quite some time.  Up until a month or two ago, I was under the impression that audio compression was limited to CBR MP3s of less than desireable kbps.  Upon finding this valuable resource, I chose to rerip my entire CD collection (still not finished, mind you) into APE for lossless backup, MPC for my hi-fi computer listening needs, and LAME --aps for my iPod.

I just want to say thank you to all of the intelligent, insightful people who post here.  The wealth of information you have provided has opened my eyes to the truth.  Thanks!
