That you are using an alpha (or beta?) version.
You should use the SV 7.x builds.  Files created with such encoder will not be supported by future decoders.

Only alphas create files with 'unstable/experimental' profiles.

It's more like another 'silly people protection'  from Frank. Afaik alpha versions produce normal SV7 files only they might not be safe quality-wise.

The alpha version do not output normal SV7 files. They are what should end out to be SV8 and is changing with every release.

The purpose for Test Encoder Binaries are listening tests and NOT FOR ARCHIVAL.

The file format can change every day, so for testing use the newest decoder source and compile it with StreamVersion 8 support on.

1.15i alpha is normal SV7, isn't it?
these alphas used to be labeled "unstable profile"

Edit: Yes, I was right. Just checked what 1.15i does: it is SV7, "unstable". /Edit

the 1.9xx are SV8 candidates

you can check encoder version in foobar2000
