restoring clipped signals

I want to start a small research project on clipped signals, particularly in the field of restoring the clipped data. I know the results aren't likely to be perfect, but I still want to give it a try. *If* something good comes out of it, I have the intention of releasing it to the public.

So far I'm reading the paper Restoring a clipped Signal, Jonathan S. Abel, 1991. As you can see it is pretty old and since I don't have an IEEE subscription anymore it is kinda hard to find more recente developments.

I'm starting off using simple predictors.

Anyone can give me some pointers as to which direction to take?, interesting papers about the subject?

Thanks in advance.
