Transient in Parametric Stereo

Hi experts,

What is it with Parametric Stereo, that it needs to increase time resolution for transient signal? Will it create pre-echo or another artifact if we don't increase time resolution of PS when transient happens?

I think that as long as transient happens at the same position at left and right channel, there should be no problem with time resolution. Because after mixdown to mono, the transient will be at the same position anyway. Then when we decode mono -> stereo using PS synthesis, the transient will be synthesized back to the same position at left and righ channel. In this case, we don't need to increase the time resolution then. Is this correct/incorrect?

Thanks and regards,
Sam.
