Great Way To Archive Ha Topics!

For those of you who like to save a copy of interesting HA topics, and highlight or comment them, you can try Firefox + the scrapbook extension:
http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?s...16&hl=scrapbook

NB: they are other extension doing a more or less similar job (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=1048&hl=scrapbook), but I found scrapbook the most useful.

An other solution is using Acrobat Pro (5, 6 or 7), capturing the web page as pdf and highlighting / commenting the pdf, but Acrobat Pro is expensive.

The files saved by scrapbook are in html format (+ gif, jpg, css, etc), so they can be searched for with desktop search software (eg: Copernic)

Hope you will find as useful as I do!

Edit: You could also simply use a WYSIWIG html editor  to highlight and comment.  Frontpage 2000 (and newer?) is quite well integrated with IE for that job, but is not free and less ergonomic than Scrapbook.

The .mht format (Microsoft© Single file web page archive) doesn't seem to be very portable, I only saw IE being able to use it.
More info: [a href="http://www.forum4designers.com/message183444.html]http://www.forum4designers.com/message183444.html[/url]

Plus : you can't search in .mht files with Copernic Desktop Search (maybe with MSN Desktop Search?)

I'm very interesting by it (I'm often offline, and I must use mht for that purpose which doesn't work with FF or opera), but I can't install it. I have clicked many times on the INSTALL link, and nothing happens. I've downloaded separatly the .xpi file, but I don't now what I have to do with it. Any suggestion?

After installation, restart Firefox. Go to mainmenu, [View] > [Toolbars] > [Customize], drag-and-drop ScrapBook icon onto toolbar.

Hope this works.

Someone send me this link:
https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extension...numpg=10&id=212

It allows to backup webpage in various format, including mht (there is also a zipped format, which is apparently interesting - when saving pages directly on a small USB device or a floppy). Nevertheless, it's not perfect.

Just make sure you allow downloads from 'http://amb.vis.ne.jp/' After you've clicked here look for the yellow popup on the top of the FF screen.

/edit

Wait, when I put the link here you should allow 'www.hydrogenaudio.org'.

For list of features:
[a href="http://maf.mozdev.org/]http://maf.mozdev.org/[/url]

Quick comparison (didn't install MAF):
- highlight / comment: didn't see it for MAF, so you would have to use another program to edit the generating archive file.
- multiple pages in one archive : only with MAF. Scrapbook doesn't use archives: it saves all the page components (html, css, gif, etc) on your hard-drive and keeps them organized in tree view in the sidebar.

Usually, you only need to allow extensionmirror.nl and mozilla.org, because they reference nearly all extension. And maybe it's a little safer to install from these sites?

On Extension Mirror members can't post in the "Firefox Extensions" forum.  The site is also updated very frequently.

On mozilla.org, the scrapbook version is slightly old (0.12) :

I'm glad to ¿maybe? have help such an important member of the ha community!
BTW if you're in Strasbourg and looking for a good restaurant, you can check out the brasserie Fischer (next to the brewery) Very good alsatian food, eg: big portions of yummy beef with spätzle...
If you're interested: no information found on the web, only in yellow pages (address & phone number)

I'm not fond of alsacian culture, especially it's caloric food

Hmm... Just press "print this page" and save that page as a HTML Only. That's what I do. No image whatsoever.
