Foobar2k Formatting issue: Won't show artist names

Ok, first look at the screenshot here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v206/rye...screenshot1.jpg
Make sure you view the image at 100% so you can see what i'm talking about.

Here's my issue:

There's one whole album in this playlist, Hella's "Church Gone Wild/Chirpin Hard." Track 24, Chirpin Hard, is the final song of the album. However, I have added additional files by different artists below that. One by Brian Jonestown Massacre from a regular album, one by Brian Eno from a regular album, one by Buffalo Springfield from a regular album, one from Frank Culley from the Atlantic R&B box set, and one by Brian Wilson from his album Smile.

Here's my problem: I can never see what artist does what song...only if you add a whole album will it show that. What can I do to the formatting string to get it to show the artist for each individual track when you add non-full album tracks to the playlist?

I have Columns Ui enabled, and am utilizing the "Opus Blue" formatting string from this website:
http://foobar.nub4life.net/columns/pafiled...tion=file&id=35

PLEASE HELP!

Also..I am no programmer, and do not know how to write strings, so if somone could supply one for me that'll finish up this last little issue of mine with Foobar, you'd be a godsend...I can't wait to dump iTunes..

Unfortunately, this can't be done.

The config you're using checks to see what tracknumber each line is in the playlist.  If the tracknumber is 1, it displays the artist.  If the tracknumber is 2, it displays the album, etc. After track 4, it starts displaying nothing in the artist column.  This style of config is kind of an all-or-nothing deal, which is why I shy away from it (I prefer flexibility, and just have "Artist: Album" displayed on every line).

A work-around that a lot of people seem to employ is to have a different artist column formatting for playlists with specific names, such as "-S-" for "Singles" when they want to listen to non-full albums.  If you want to know how to do that, you might want to ask the developer of whatever config you're using (or just try naming a playlist "-S-", as that is a common filter).

Another work-around, if you like to interrupt full albums with single songs that you just get the urge to hear (like I do), I would recommend [a href="http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12124&hl=temple]foo_temple.  This plug-in creates a temporary playlist that you can queue tracks to, and resume right where you left off when those tracks are done.

Hope that helps.

Ok. Thanks....How would I get it to display artist-album on every line? Mind sharing the string you have to do that, and where in the configs i'd place that string?

It really depends on what config you're using.  Maybe if I get some time I'll download it and let you know what to edit and where, but most of those configs are pretty involved.  Try asking the author to supply you with one that shows artist and album on every line, or look for a config that doesn't format like that in the first place (I think there are some).

I can tell you the string would be more or less:
Code: [Select]
[%artist%][ - %album%]

But I can't tell you where to put it without seeing the columns config for that display.

If you, or anyone else reading this program, but without a display like that, I don't know how I feasibly can...and i'm not sure if the author will respond...If you, or anyone else, gets time, that'd would be amazing..the link to the download is in my first post...

EDIT: Please? Somebody? Anybody? Is this mic on??

I can also take part in this.

if you upload your config file (*.fcs), I can modify it.

I'm very interested in title formatting now and always find cool configs, which become the references to my new one. and I need other's idea : how it looks like, as well as coloring. So I can take part in this.

Well..the modification i am most interested in currently is modifying the string found here:
[a href="http://foobar.nub4life.net/columns/pafiled...tion=file&id=35]http://foobar.nub4life.net/columns/pafiled...tion=file&id=35

so it shows album/artist on every line..

I modified and posted in below. columns placement of it is what I like, so it can be changed after, as you like.

OK, I made an alternative one. Try this.

Using ZIP is not good maybe.
if I compress "foobar.fcs" into "foobar.zip" and upload it, and download after that, "foobar.zip" is re-compressed into "foobar.zip" (although I can extract "foobar.fcs" from double-compressed "foobar.zip").
